Hay-on-Wye pics

We went to Hay-on-Wye yesterday. It's a little town right on the border of Wales and England and has over 30 bookshops!






The castle. The part covered with ivy is the original that was built between 1200 and 1211. Prince Llywelyn burned it 1231. It was rebuilt in 1233. The manor house was attached to it in the 1600's, and it has been damaged by two severe fires since then.

The countryside around Hay. You can see some of the bookshops as well.




On the way home we stopped at Tintern Abby. This is the Forrest of Dean and River Wye that is right next to the abby.




The abby itself. It was only the second Cistercain foundation in Britain, and the first in Wales.

I know! There are so many bookshops! I think I only saw 1/4 of them...

The Abbey is in ruins, yes. They're currently... doing something with them... and have been for the past few years. I think they might be making them safer. LOL, yes, Wayne Manor!

The vegetation is very green around there! And, lol, I have a such a... cliched picture of Mexico... It's all desert and Cacti! :P

Lol, well, most of Mexico is not desert, it's lush jungles and crazy mountain forests, unless you live here (or any of the northern states) where, yeah, it's also mountain forests, but lots and lots of desert. It's hot as hell! damn it!

No one rides donkeys, though. Or hangs out on the shade of cacti. That's just nonsense.

Mountains! Mountain Forests! Trees! I would be happy with those. But the heat would kill me. Seriously, I start dying whenever it gets above 28 degrees (centigrade that is). So, I would be dead with the heat!

I imagine that hanging out in the shade of a cacti would be rather... prickly. LOL
