Clark stared out across the back lawn of Wayne Manor, wondering where Bruce was. He was meant to be interviewing him, with Dick and Tim, partially in regard to Bruce's recent adoption of Tim. But they were nowhere to be found.

"This way, please sir."

Clark started slightly at the sound of Alfred's voice. It was clear where the Bats had learned their sneaking. "Uh, thank you, Alfred." He pushed his glasses up and obediently followed Alfred down the steps and onto the lawn.

The grass was lush and the hot summer sun was shining down. Clark smiled and felt like whistling as he could feel the power surge in his body, but restrained himself. He could distantly hear voices - Tim laughing, Dick complaining, and his smile grew wider.

He'd been looking forward to this interview since he'd been assigned it, seeing the knowing sparkle in Bruce's eyes, the giggles from Dick and Tim, seeing Alfred again. Really, they loved playing as the Prince and Gotham and the heirs. And Clark would be lying if he said that he didn't enjoy playing up Clark Kent around them, all innocent farmboy and mid-western twang. They played such silly games. But fun ones.

Alfred was leading him past the tennis courts and towards the stables, Clark realized. His smile grew. It would be nice to be around horses again. He missed being around animals, working with his bare hands. Bruce indulged him greatly, and let him visit the stables whenever he wanted.

Bruce really did have exquisite horses; he did play polo quite a bit. Useful to his secret identity, for excuses of injuries, and, just because it was fun. Batman might look at you as if you were insane if it was ever suggested, but Clark knew better. Bruce had especially started playing the game after he took Dick in - he knew that there where times when Dick spent more time at the stables than the Manor, and Bruce had bought him ponies and later horses.

They reminded him of the circus, Clark knew, and besides that, he was an excellent horse rider, his agility, and, more importantly, his balance aiding him greatly. So Bruce had become more interested in horses and polo, teaching Dick how to play, bonding with him a great deal because of it. And it had proved a good distraction, great enough that Bruce had been able to substantially delay Dick becoming Robin until he was an early teen, and knew how to defend himself, how to fight, and all the things that a Robin must.

But, more importantly, it had given him time to grieve, time to adjust to his parents being gone, time that Bruce hadn't allowed himself. Clark sighed, his thoughts gone gloomy, the smile falling from his face, only to return when he heard Bruce's amused voice.

He and Alfred walked around a wooded bend in the path, and the stables came into view. Dick was trotting around on a piebald horse, great splodges of black and white - indeed, the horse's name was Splodge. Dick was smiling widely, gliding over to Tim, astride a chestnut horse, who, at the moment, didn't look like moving at all.

Tim hadn't been riding as long as Bruce and Dick had, but he was still an excellent rider, would win any competition. Provided he could get his horse to move. And Bruce... Clark felt his heart catch at the sight of him.

Bruce was watching his sons from atop his coal black gelding, both watching their companions with an amused air. Shadow of the Bat, Dick had christened the horse, to Bruce's annoyance, Batty as his stable name, one of Bruce's best horses. No matter how much Bruce disliked the name, it had stuck, until Bruce had finally accepted it, though he had complained a lot to Clark before he did.

Clark and Alfred approached the fence around the outdoor school, and Bruce and Batty walked over to them. Batty nudged him with his nose and Clark stroked the black horse's velvety face before looking up at Bruce, wolfish blue eyes staring down at him, the sun lightening his hair. Clark swallowed; it wasn't fair that Bruce looked so sexy.

"Mr. Kent is here for the interview, Master Bruce."

Bruce inclined his head and Batty nickered.

*****

Clark Kent: Thank you, Mr. Wayne, Mr. Grayson and Mr. Drake, for taking time out of your busy schedule for this interview.
Bruce Wayne: Not at all. I always love talking with the press, Mr. Kent.
Richard Grayson: Please, call me Dick.
Timothy Drake: And me Tim, please.
BW: Which, I suppose, gives me no choice but to have you call me Bruce.
CK: Thank you. Please, call me Clark.
BW: Clark.
CK: Bruce, you recently adopted Tim. (Bruce nods) How's that working out? No jealousies between Dick and Tim, I hope.
BW: (Laughs) No, no jealousies!
DG: Timmy's like a little brother to me - he was even before Bruce adopted him. (Dick ruffles Tim hair, to his obvious annoyance)
BW: It's working out great. I'm honored to have Tim as a son.
CK: That's great to hear. Bruce, how is Wayne Enterprises these days? I've heard that WayneTech is making great steps, and so is WayneHealth.
BW: (Nods) You'll have to talk to Lucius Fox, of course, but I'm very pleased with how Wayne Enterprises is continuing to grow, and especially pleased with the new discoveries WayneTech and WayneHealth have been making.
CK: Dick, you've recently moved to New York. How's that going?
DG: Great! I'm the curator of a museum now - The Cloisters. It's currently being refurnished, but we plan to open again in 3 weeks. I'm really looking forward to it.
CK: Why did you move to New York? Was Gotham becoming too crazy for you?
(Tim laughs, Dick grins)
DG: No, no, nothing like that. Gotham - Wayne Manor - is my home and always will be. I just wanted to get out on my own a bit, do my own thing, you know? I lived in Bludhaven before, and nowhere felt 'right' after that until New York. But, I am a gypsy! I have to move around every now and then or I'd go crazy.
TD: He already is! (Dick glares. Bruce smiles)
CK: All roads lead to Wayne Manor?
DG: (Laughs) Exactly!
CK: And how do you feel about this, Bruce?
BW: (Smiles) Dick needs to get out on his own, explore the world. If he's happy in New York, then I'm happy.
CK: What about you, Tim? What are you doing these days?
TD: Nothing much, I'm afraid. I'm just having a break for a while after school and everything. I'm not sure what I'll do next - maybe travel the world, or just go and annoy Dick in New York. (Dick rolls his eyes) I might even join Wayne Enterprises!
CK: If you do join Wayne Enterprises, what do you think you'll do there?
TD: Oh, gosh, I don't know. I might do something in the R&D department. They're always doing fun stuff.
CK: What do you think about Tim joining Wayne Enterprises, Bruce?
BW: Whatever Tim wants to do, I'll support him 100%. We all will.
(At this point Bruce's butler, Alfred Pennyworth, interrupts with refreshments)
DG: Ooooh! Ice cream!
(Dick practically pounces on the tray, grabbing a bowl of strawberry ice cream, swiftly followed by Tim, with mint, while Bruce has chocolate)
BW: I hope you like vanilla, Clark.
(Dick and Tim excuse themselves for a moment)
CK: Thank you, Bruce. And thank you, Mr. Pennyworth.
AP: Not a problem sir. It is very hot today. If there is anything else you require, please just let me know.
(Alfred leaves and Dick and Tim return)
CK: When I arrived you were all horse riding. Do you ride often?
BW: Well, I've always had a fondness for Polo, [Bruce is a member of the Gotham Polo Team] and Dick's always loved horses. Tim has been riding for a few years now.
DG: That's another reason why I'm here so often - it's where all my horses are!
CK: It's been reported that you've suffered some pretty nasty injuries from Polo, Bruce.
BW: Well, it's a dangerous game. But an exhilarating and rewarding one too. If you don't get an injury now and then they'd be no fun in it - you'd start to loose the respect you have for the danger.
CK: You also have several high speed cars and motorbikes that you've crashed on more than one occasion...
BW: Well, everyone crashes cars, don't they?
DG: I'm really more the motorbike guy - they're so cool! (Tim nods in agreement)
CK: Would you ever leave Gotham, Bruce? If, for instance, Dick and Tim were both to move to New York forever?
BW: (Looks shocked) No. Never. Wayne's belong in Gotham.
CK: But you left for several years when you were younger.
BW: (Nods) That's true. But, like I said before, everyone needs to travel a bit, if only to appreciate their home. You don't realize how much you love it, how much it's really home, until you leave it. (Dick and Tim nod)
CK: You're a noted philanthropist, Bruce. Why do you give so much?
BW: Well, I'm lucky because I have plenty of money. But a lot of people don't. I'm trying to help them. My parent's always taught me that it was our responsibility to help those less fortunate than us. That's why I have the Wayne Foundation.
CK: You're constantly being linked to many of the world's most beautiful women, Bruce. Do you ever think about settling down?
BW: (Laughs) No. No, I don't. I don't think I have the right temperament. But, maybe if there was someone really special...
CK: What about you, Dick? Tim?
DG: I'm far too busy at the moment to be in a relationship. It wouldn't be fair - I wouldn't be able to give it the attention it deserves.
TD: Same here. I'm sorting myself out at the moment, trying to figure some stuff out, see where my life is going. I don't have time for a relationship right now.
CK: One last question. There's been a lot of debate about this, but what do you think - does the Batman exist?
BW: If he does, he'd have to be pretty crazy!
DG: Yeah, I do believe he exists - there are so many stories, there has to be some truth to them. And I believe he's making a great difference to Gotham - I've seen the changes since rumours about him started. He's making Gotham better.
TD: Yeah, I agree with Dick. Batman does exist, and he's a real hero.
CK: Thank you for your time, Bruce, Dick and Tim. And please thank Alfred again for the ice cream.
BW: It was our pleasure. And I will.

*****

Clark woke slowly, opening his eyes to see the sun rising above the horizon. He yawned, then stretched, smiling sleepily. The air was cool now, but it was going to be another scorching hot summers day.

The door to the bedroom opened and Bruce walked in. He looked tired, but not exhausted. He disappeared into the bathroom for a few moments before removing his robe and crawling into bed. Clark wrapped him in his arms, smelling the soap from the shower he had taken, feeling the damp hair. Bruce sighed, long and deep.

"Everything quiet?"

Bruce nodded.

"Makes for a nice change, sometimes."

Bruce nodded again.

"So, am I someone special?" He asked, thinking back to the interview, yesterday afternoon now.

Bruce raised himself up onto a elbow to look at him. "Yes," he said simply.

Clark smiled then kissed him softly. "Was that why you ate your ice cream the way you did? Trying to seduce me?"

Bruce's eyes twinkled in the morning light. "Maybe."

"Well, it worked."

Bruce grinned wolfishly for a moment, and Clark laughed lowly. Bruce lay back down and he adjusted his hold on him slightly.

"I love you."

Bruce smiled against him and pressed a kiss into his neck. Clark's smile grew. He watched the sun rise as Bruce fell asleep in his arms.

I loved this story! I could tell it was yours because it was so sweet and tender and just...Bruce and the boys have such a great relationship in your stories and it comes out so nicely in the interview. Eee! I really like how they pretended they are not close to each other at the beginning of the interview. XD

Ooh, trying to seduce Clark, huh, Mr. Wayne? *giggles*
I bet he doesn't need to try very hard :P

Awwwwww!!! :) I love that they can do things like that, and leave the angst of their costumed lives behind for a while. It was neat seeing just how they explain things, like Bruce's bruises and Dick moving to NY. ^_~
