Comment to this post and I will give you 5 subjects/things I associate you with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.

I was given:

Dr. Mid-Nite:

I'm not sure what made me fall in love with Pieter. It's probably because, out of all of the members of the JSA, he's the one most like me. I really liked the idea that the JSA had their own doctor - it seems like such a sensible thing, lol!

Another aspect of my interest in Pieter is because he's blind. So he can see the world in a totally different way to everyone else. His compassion, his quiet confidence... You know that if he were your doctor, he would really care about you, and do everything possible to get you better.

I also love how his faith is shown. Again, it's quiet, he isn't likely to say 'I'll pray for you' or anything like that, and it plays so beautifully against Michael being an atheist. And I love how Pieter is more than his JSA teammates sometimes give him credit for! I mean, it's not until relatively late into the 90's run that it's revealed that Pieter has a vast network of people working for him in his hometown of Portsmouth. Indeed, it's after this that Michael, who was chairman of the JSA at the time, states that if he ever wanted to step down, then Pieter would be the person he would suggest to become the new leader.

Anther thing I love about Pieter is that he's not American. He's Americanized, yes, but he's really Norwegian. I just really like that he's different in that way too. And all of the tragedy that's touched his life... *huggles him*

I just really love Pieter! :D

Charlie:

Charlie is, as anyone sensible knows, the most amazing and awesome member of the JSA. LOL, I just love Charlie!! *squees* He's so cute, perched on Pieter's shoulder, or just generally around. Indeed, Charlie is what, I think, first truly drew my attention to Pieter! I loved that he had this owl who went everywhere with him. It was so cool.

And, Charlie is, of course, the reason Pieter became Dr. Mid-Nite, discovered he could see again. So, yes, Charlie is easily the most awesome member of the JSA. *hearts him* :D

Jewellery:

Jewellery, or Jewelry, LOL. What can I say? I certainly never expected to be making it. I really just fell into it, but I think it's... me. I love being able to turn a blank piece of metal into something that's hopefully pretty and beautiful. All the lovely colors of beads, how they can be combined together in so many different ways... Well, I like sparkly, pretty things! :p

So, I can indulge myself a lot, and just have lots of fun playing about pretty things. And, hopefully, people will like them enough to buy them! ;)

Drabbles:

Heh... you know... I'm really not a drabbely kind of person. I'm very likely to skip over a drabble if I see one posted somewhere, because... how could someone possibly tell a story in 100 words? Even it's more like 150, that's still hardly any... And, yet, it's my natural writing length! The end of the story just comes almost without me knowing it, and it wouldn't feel right, trying to make it longer. So, it takes me a long time to write a 'long' story. I can write 1000 words, but anything over 3000? That's going to be a long fic to me, and anything I write that ends up over 10000? Well, that's just insanely long, lol.

So, yes, I am a hypocrite! I write drabbles, yet I hardly ever read other peoples, because I don't believe anyone could write a story with such a small amount of words. Yes... *sighs* I'm clearly not right in the head! :P

Fairy Tales:

Ah, fairy tales. The romantic in me just melts at them. I can't put it into words, really, but I just... love them! That things will be okay, they'll work out, there will be a happy ending... It just turns me into a pile of goo! LOL.

I'm not doing very well at all in talking about them, but I guess I love the variety. How there's no real definitive version of them (I'm thinking of the Grimm ones, mainly here) how they're all not the true one, yet they're all the right ones. I mean, I have versions I prefer - for instance, my favorite version of Beauty and the Beast is the one by Disney - but it's so interesting seeing other versions, across different cultures.

So... I'm not sure what I'm trying to say, or if any of this is making any sense, but... I just really like them, and my inner child and romantic melts at any mention of them. :)

I loved reading your answers! *hugs* Thanks for sharing them! :D

You had me wondering for a bit if I'd misspelled "jewelry" or what other sort of nonsense I might have done. *lol* And I learned something interesting... Apparently, Canadians would spell it "jewellery", like the British do -- it's Americans who spell it the other way. I guess that means I'm Americanized. *lol* Seems I spell a lot of words the American way, though Canadians typically spell them the same way the British would. Odd... lol!

I'm surprised you would say you skip over other people's drabbles -- they're the one thing I'm almost always sure to read, because it barely takes any time at all to do so, yet a lot of work might have gone into them to make them just the right way to tell a story is so little words. In fact, I'm often amazed at how people can write such wonderful little tales in 100 words or so. I, on the other hand, have a big mouth and would have the hardest time in the world stopping at 100. lol! I can write 50,000 words, sure. 100 is a nightmare. ;)

And, just because I'm curious - what would you say is your favorite fairy tale?

LOL, I normally use 'jewelry' and 'jewellery' interchangeably - in fact, I try and write in American English on LJ, just to make it simpler for everyone. :)

I guess another part of the skipping of drabbles is... well, they come so easily to me. I'll just sit there, write, and then I'm done, finished. I hardly need to work on them at all. Whereas with long fics I need to work on them much much more. So... I guess I take them for granted a lot! But then I also don't care if they're over 100 words or not, but if an author has worked hard to get at exactly 100 words... I don't know, it's just a weird thing I do. :)

Hmmm, my favorite fairy tale... I would have to say either Cinderella or Beauty and the Beast. Do you have a favorite? :)

It's really interesting to see your point of view about fic. :)

I can't even write an entire scene in 100 words. But I can go on for a thousand about Bruce's inner thoughts and that'll take me a little less than an hour. If you want the whole story, though, you'll have to grant me at least another thousand words. lol! Even my LJ entries are like that, if you've noticed - I'll go on at length, when there's not necessarily any need to do that. I just start typing and don't know where to end. ;) Maybe my thoughts are just confused or something..?

Fairy tales...um... you know, I don't think I could tell you which one is my favorite. There are so many that I enjoy - so many that bring back memories from when I was a child. :) However, I have a soft spot for a series of stories by Oscar Wilde, which usually end up in print together as "The Happy Prince and Other Tales" - they're sad (friggin' heartbreaking!) but I absolutely adore those. :)

Heh, well, sometimes Bruce can be very talkative! Especially if a certain superhero in red and blue is there... *ahem* Your LJ entries are always very interesting, though! And... well, I'm sometimes quite envious of all the detail people can put in - both in fic and normal LJ entries - whereas I'll struggle with that, and while I can (generally) cope with a character's thoughts, I can't do the details! So... it's a double edged sword, I guess. :)

Oscar Wilde's fairy tales are absolutely heart wrenching!! *weeps*

Also, I love your icon! Hee! *hearts Batman*

Feel free to steal my icon, if you want it. I made that one. Not the drawing, obviously, but... ya know!

Heh, well, sometimes Bruce can be very talkative! Especially if a certain superhero in red and blue is there...

hehehe! Yes. But then again, sometimes said hero in red and blue is around, Batman can be rendered completely speechless. *giggles* I have so much love for these two together. hee! Makes me so very happy!

Oscar Wilde's fairy tales are absolutely heart wrenching!! *weeps*

They really are! But then... I love things like that - heartbreaking, but with a certain ray of hope somewhere in them, even though sometimes you have to look really hard for it. *lol* I dunnno, I can't explain, I just love things that'll make me cry like that. Must be because I'm a little bit deranged. lol! ;)

*giggles* That's very true, Bruce can be either very talkative or very quiet when the Man of Steel is around! :p *rolls around in the S/B love*

I can understand why you like things like that! It's good to be reminded that even in the midst of heartbreak, of despair, there's still hope, you just have to look for it. :)

Aw, Charlie! ;)

Nice read, Star. And I didn't know that about you and drabbles!

I should really get back into practice with those. I'm a 500+ word writer nearly every time! ;)

I, too, love the pretty sparklies and adore fairy tales! :) Have you read the S/B fairy tale e-zine yet?

With me and drabbles, well, it's a weird thing. I'll read ones by people I know, the flist, and really enjoy them, but if I see some at an archive, or if I'm getting into a fandom or something like that, I'll just skip over them... I'm very odd. :p

I'd love to see some drabbles from you, though! I know they'll be excellent. :)

I've read some of the e-zine! I'm still kinda working my way through it, lol, but I've been enjoying it so far... speaking of it, are you going to post your story soon? ;)

I'm trying to decide whether to post it one chapter at a time or all at once if it fits in one post. *ponders*

Wasn't the artwork for my story gorgeous? :)

Hmm, it must be difficult to decide what to do when it's kinda already been posted! I'm looking forward to reading it again when you do post it! :) And the artwork for it was so pretty! :D

Oh, these are cool! I know what you mean about Pieter not being American--although there are lots of international heroes in the DCU, they so often get pushed to the side margins and don't get much time, so I like to see them...

I love fairy tales so much! My grammar school library had a series of international fairy tales, and my name was on the borrowing card over and over and over... :)

*grins* It's really interesting to see a character like Pieter who's not American! Like you say, non-American characters do get pushed to the side, so I'm really glad he's managed to stay (relatively!) in the spotlight. :)

LOL, I think I was the same about fairy tale books! So pretty... *happy sigh*

And your icon!! It's so cool. :D

Mine too! Heck, I live in a fairy tale in my head. ;)

It's the first type of story I ever wrote... My fav one really doesn't translate well, though. There's one I did translate, but it's not really a *fairy* tale, just a children's story, about a little maple leaf that wanted to fly.

/scurries off to find it...

...how could someone possibly tell a story in 100 words?

Well apparently you can also tell a story with less then 10 words. XD
I believe some writer had once said that real art is to make one-sentence stories of 5 words or less. Because you really need to chose your words carefully to get your point across.
There seams to be a new trends/challenge now where you make one-sentence stories or 5/10-word stories.

Somewhere on the net I came across a person who said once that writing is not about adding words to make a story longer but about what words you can remove and still keep the same meaning.
And I would have to agree. Although I have to say I still like my association/adjective heavy style. XD

Telling a sotry in 10 words or less would be so difficult! Wow... If it was a series of sentences that kinda relate to each other, that would be better, but otherwise... so difficult!

Somewhere on the net I came across a person who said once that writing is not about adding words to make a story longer but about what words you can remove and still keep the same meaning.

That is very interesting! It almost makes me want to go back and look at some of the stories I've wirtten and see how many words I can take out! :)

Hmmm, you want to play? How about:

Batman
Superman
The BatClan
Merlin
Books

There I poked around and I found it...

Ernest Hemingway is reputed to have written a six-word story and called it his best work: "For sale: baby shoes. Never used."
