Clark was like an angel, Bruce thought sometimes, in his more fanciful moments. An angel of the earth, of the sky, a guardian angel for so many people. The whole world...
He was a demon, that much was clear. A demon for the dark city, a demon of the night, of vengeance.
But when, in the midst of a fit of hallucination, he had muttered those thoughts...
Clark had cradled his head and gazed into his eyes, and told him that he was wrong, that he was not a demon at all, but an angel of justice.
And Bruce had never loved Clark more than in that moment.
