Batman had just come in after a long night, hunting down a child murderer. Clark was getting ready to leave for work, where he would write an article on Batman’s night, and the criminal who was now safe in police custody.
They showered at the same time, so far apart, but Bruce lingered in the water longer. Clark had a snatched breakfast of toast and an apple. Bruce ate the last of the cookies that Alfred had baked the evening before.
Clark searched his apartment for his keys, found them, lost them, then found them again. Bruce locked down and secured the cave for the morning.
Clark stepped out of his apartment building, smiling as sunlight touched him. Bruce stepped out from behind the clock, into the shadowy hallways of the manor.
Clark walked to work. Bruce walked to bed. Clark paused, chatting to a coffee vendor. Bruce sighed as his head hit the pillow.
Superman was sighted, very briefly, in the sky between Gotham and Metropolis. Soft lips brushed against Bruce’s forehead, and he smiled.
Clark, in the Daily Planet, settled down to work, an identical smile on his face. Bruce settled down to sleep.
Both together, though they were so far apart.
