Rules:

1. Leave me a casual comment of no particular significance, like a lyric to your favorite song.
2. I will respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.
3. Update your LJ with the answers to these questions.
4. Include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in your own post.
5. When others respond with a desultory comment, you will ask them five questions.

My questions from [livejournal.com profile] quirky_circe:

1. What's the best and the worst things about living in Britain?
2. Other than Bruce/Clark, what's your favourite pairing and why?
3. Have you ever wanted to be something other than a jewellery designer? If so, what?
4. Your house is on fire. What three things would you take? (any living things are safe outside.)
5. When did you first get into comics? What drew you to Bruce and Clark in particular?

My questions from [livejournal.com profile] arch_schatten:

1. When did you know you liked slash?
2. You're granted 3 wishes. What do you ask for?
3. What's your favorite book, and why?
4. Is there any place you would really like to visit?
5. If you where a super villain, what would be your theme?

My questions from [livejournal.com profile] jen_in_japan:

1. How did you get into making jewelry?
2. What's the best thing about living where you live?
3. What do you think is your best quality as a person?
4. Is there something you'd really like to write but feel like you can't, for whatever reason?
5. What are some of your favorite scents? (That's an odd one but I was just putting some hand lotion on, lol)

Bonus sixth question I've been meaning to ask you: Have you ever read The Fionavar Tapestry by Guy Gavriel Kay? It's one of my favorite series ever, and draws pretty heavily on Welsh mythology, including Arthurian legends.

My questions from [livejournal.com profile] vigilante_wake

1. If your life was a drinking game, people would do a shot when...

2. Describe either the weirdest or the best dream you've ever had.

3. What author, either living or dead, would you most like to meet?

4. If you could be any comic book character, who would you be?

5. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

For [livejournal.com profile] quirky_circe

1. The best thing... well, for me it's the history. I like that my ancestors have been here for a long time. And that there are loads of historical ruins from quite a few different cultures that you can go see. I also, actually, quite like the weather. LOL. And the sense of humour. ;)

The worst thing... I hate it that America gets things before we do, and we have to wait. Be it films, or books, or dvd's, or tv shows... *sighs* That's quite annoying. I once had to wait 10 months for some dvd's to be released here. I mean, what?

2. Oooohhh!! That's a hard one! But I'm going to have to say Michael/Pieter. I love them!! *squishes them* They're just so good together! :D

3. Yes I have! For a long time I wanted to be a professional horse rider - doing showjumping, in fact. I was mad about horses, living and breathing them, but school started to get more demanding, and I gave up. I still miss it, though, and I would like to go back to it, just for the occasional ride, but I have no time! And the stables that I went to have closed down, so there's no where for me to go anyway. :(

4. My laptop!!! I must have my laptop. *strokes it* A stuffed toy. And... my grandmother's jewellery.

5. I saw the first Christopher Reeve Superman film on TV and I was hooked. LOL. So, I was reading some Clois fic from that, actually - shocking, I know ;) - when Bruce turned up. I was amazed to think that Superman and Batman were friends!! They seemed like such total opposites! They just fascinated me! And when I read about the amount of history they had together... I was a devoted fan of the World's Finest, even if I hadn't discovered people slashing them yet. ;)

For [livejournal.com profile] arch_schatten

1. I knew I liked slash when I started actively looking for it, lol. No, I knew I liked it when I couldn't get the slash story I'd accidentally clicked on to read out of my head. Of course, it might have been when I continued reading the slash story, even when it became obvious that it was slash... LOL

2. That my family and friends live long and happy lives. For world peace. For an end to famine.

3. Lord of the Rings! It's just so awesome. I love the rich background to it, how it feels so much like it could actually be a real set of myths.

4. I would really like to visit Scotland! But I would also like to visit Switzerland. Pretty Mountains!!

5. I would steal all of chocolate in the world! And laugh evilly while doing so. Bwhahahaha!!!!

For [livejournal.com profile] jen_in_japan

1. Heh. A bit of a long story. I don't know if I've mentioned this, but I dropped out of school when I was 14 to be home educated, thus I have no formal qualifications at all. I wanted to go to collage, more because it was... programed? LOL, into me that you went to collage when you were 16. So, I had to find a course that I could do with no qualifications. That was a very slim number. I also wanted it to be a part time course, because I was no longer used to being around people for long amounts of time, and I wouldn't have been able to cope with it. I also wanted to do a course where I didn't have to do a interveiw, and jewellery was one of them. I pondered a bit about doing a flower arranging course instead, but the Jewellery course lasted longer, and, at the time, I could get on it for free for 2 years, so that was another good reason. So... yeah. I got into jewellery making because I have no qualifications, don't like being around people, and because it was free. LOL.

2. I like living in this part of the UK because we are close to Wales! LOL. That's one of the main reasons. Um... also, I am only about 1 hour away from Glastonbury! And Glastonbury is awesome. I am also close to other sites like that, such as Avebury and such.

3. *laughs for little while, because she can not think of anything* Um... I would say making myself look like a idiot/stupid so my mum/dad/brother will laugh for a few moments when they are Thinking Serious Thoughts.

4. Erm... I don't know. I'm tempted to say the Gotham fic, because I think I'm blocking myself with that one, since I know how strong my Gotham!Muse is, and I don't want her to smother my other muses. *thinks a bit more* This might count too. I sorta want to write a Clark/Dick fic, just because my Bruce!Muse gets so incredibly depressed whenever I come across a fic with that pairing, because he knows how good Clark and Dick would be for each other, how much better Dick will be for Clark than he could ever be... so I kinda want to write a Clark/Dick fic with Bruce being all angsty to try and get it all out.

5. Oooo! Lavender. That's my favorite. Roses. Rain. Sweets. Chocolate.

6. Ooooohh! You mentioned the magic word. Arthurian. LOL. I haven't! *runs to amazon* Wow. Where do I start? Although... *checks bookshelves* I have a book by him! But it's not part of that series, I think. *pouts a bit*

For [livejournal.com profile] vigilante_wake

1. Heh, I'm going to show my naivete here, since I don't drink at all, and I'm going to presume you mean the drinking games that I've heard of when you drink whenever something is repeated... anyway, working under that assumption, it would probably be whenever I say the word 'green', or 'DHL'. It's a family joke. *nods sagely*

2. I... can't really remember any dreams like that, woe! I have, however, dreamed that I was a member of the Fellowship of the Ring, and at a different time, that I'm Batman. And Superman's always there. And then I always become someone else when Superman starts to kiss Batman. That's a little unfair, I think. Oh! And of course there's the time I dreamed I was Robin and Batman let me drive the Batmoblie. That was fun.

3. Tolkien. I would love to know more about the Silmarillion, and the tales from the First Age.

4. Oooh. That's a very tough one. I'll go with... Babs! Since she's just awesome.

5. Wales! I want to live in Wales because I feel far, far, more at home there than I do anywhere else. There's a particular part of Wales, Beddgelert, that especially felt like home to me when I briefly visited there.

1. What is your favorite thing about Cass?
2. How did you get into comics?
3. What is your favorite thing about Cass/Jason?
4. What is your favorite food?
5. If you could have any job in the world, what would it be?

Sorry it's taken me so long to answer these. Life has been somewhat insane.

1. I like that Cass is flawed. She has a past with some dark in it. And I love how different she is; I am fasinated with what it would be like to read body language so easily and how hard it must be when you know a person is lying.

2. Batgirl got me back into comics. I read when I was younger but got away. LOL. A lot to catch on, and a lot I don't remember.

3. They are both hurt, lost, angry, looking for something and someone. I see them understanding one another.

4. LOL Chocolate, of course. But beyond that I love pizza.

5. Dan Didio's job. And let me tell you, I'd do some house cleaning at DC. Writers who haven't got a clue about characters wouldn't touch then. And I would give Marv complete control over Nightwing.

Ahh, I join you in the hating to wait for things to come out here. C'moooooon, globalization, air things everywhere at the same time!!!

Being into S/B before knowing there existed slash for them seems to more common than I thought! And riding horses, wow. I hope you get the chance to go back to it in the near future, I bet it's great! I love horses, but I'm also deeply scared of riding. But they are soooo pretty!

Yeah, I was quite the horse enthusiast at one point! I hope I can go back to it at some point, but there's so much legalization required from stables these days - and of course, the threat that they might be sued if mummy's little darling falls off - a lot of them have closed down. *sighs* Horses are fine once you get used to them! As long as you have some vague semblance of balance, and, of course, that the horse is trained properly, you're pretty much alright, lol. Horses are very pretty indeed! :)

3. What is your favorite thing about architecture?
4. What is your favorite food?
5. What is your favorite thing about S/B?

Being into S/B before knowing there existed slash for them seems to more common than I thought!

I'd never thought about it before, but it is pretty prevalent! When I was more into Clois fandom, I remember there being a sizeable camp of big S+B fans who never crossed over into the slash.

Seeing Bruce in Clois fic wasn't what seduced me to slash him and Clark, but I'm like you, Star, in that I never knew they were friends (or that they were even part of the same comics universe, lol--shame on me!) until I started seeing Bruce show up as a supporting character in Clois fic over, and over, and over again, lol ...

And horses! Ahh, they are such gorgeous animals; that's so awesome that you ride them! I've only ridden twice, and both times I was terrified of falling off O.o You are a brave woman, Star! *grin* I hope you get to go back soon, too--and when you do you must bring pictures! :D

I didn't know that Superman and Batman were in the same universe either! I remember laughing hysterically at the idea that they existed in the same world, and that they were friends... that was almost beyond comprehension. LOL. Clois writers seem to like having Bruce turn up, don't they? I wonder if they're trying to tell us something... ;)

Horses are so pretty! And they're fine once you get used to riding them. :) But maybe it's because I started to ride when I was... 9? so I didn't have any real fear of falling off... LOL. If I ever go riding again, there will be pics! :D

Do you want any questions? All of mine are going to be incredibly lame, so... I'm asking people! lol

You like freezing your butt off? Weird. On that complaint about the Americans getting things first - it could be worse. Because we get things sometimes months or years after you in Australia. For instance we don't have "Smallville" season 6 yet ('cos the wankers are meant to show it on TV first and they haven't). Then there's the animated box sets we only have the first volume of "Batman: TAS". That's it. No "Superman: TAS" or "Justice League" or anything. I don't suppose the British ones are compatible with Region 4 as well as Region 2? If so I could get them. Do you know? Do you guys have them? The animated box sets mind you.

On the S/B stuff. I loved Superman since childhood. I liked Batman a lot too. From the sixties series, then the film (much older) and especially the animated series as an adult. Eventually they had Superman and Batman together. I got re-obsessed with Superman through "Superman Returns". So I watched the "Justice League" episodes I'd taped but hadn't watched. They had them together and I loved it when Superman hugged Batman. I loved it in a platonic way. But I realised I also loved it from a slashy standpoint so I looked up the fiction. 'Cos I knew the internet would have it. As my previous slash pair was Angel/Wes though I didn't count myself as a 'shipper. But it was a preference.

I haven't even mentioned the very brief time I collected comics. Sorry for spamming here. But I rarely talk about it and since I love them. Well I hope you understand. By the way I don't have LJ so I tried to answer the S/B thing here. I hope that's alright by you.

Well, I pass out randomly when it's hot, so I much prefer it when it's cold. People who like the heat as are weird to me as I must seem to you! LOL

I also have no idea about the regions, sorry! But you might want to consider a multi-region dvd player. I'm thinking about getting one myself... :)

Superman Returns has got a lot of people into comics, from what I understand. And I agree that Justice League is wonderful for subtext! *happy sigh*

Don't worry about spamming! It's interesting to learn how different people got into this fandom! :)

Oh, I *so* hear you about the delayed stuff, Star! I'm forced to get most of my music off P2Ps because the damn CDs never release in India, even the mainstream stuff- the latest Backstreet Boys *still* hasn't come out here WTF? And don't get me started on things like cartoons or comics, we just recently got the Batman/Superman movie, never mind the rest of it... /rant

Funny, I was always a Batman fangirl first and foremost, so I never paid much heed to the Clois side of things, until I randomly saw Clark in a Batman fic. Kind of the opposite of how you got here, I guess!

Oh, and if you're up for it, I'd love some questions!

1. LOL! I love your reasons. And it worked out well!

3. *thumps you gently*

4. *winces* You have touched a sore point with me, the Clark/Dick! I have exactly the same anguished recoiling from it that Lex/Bruce gives me--in both cases it's like having one member of my OTP completely ditch the other-- "Eh, I don't need Clark because who needs simple-minded niceness when you can have sexy double-snarkiness!" or "Eh, who needs Bruce when you can skip the gloomy introvertedness and go for a double helping of sweetness and light!" Those two pairings, of all the pairings in the fandom, tend to give me hives, even (especially!) when done well.

6. What do you have by Kay? With the Fionavar Tapestry you'd want to start with "The Summer Tree" and then to "The Wandering Fire" and "The Darkest Road." The Arthurian stuff doesn't even start to appear until the second book, I don't think, but when it does it's lovely. And I warn you, I've re-read "The Darkest Road" about five times and it makes me cry every time. :) I just read "The Last Light of the Sun" on my trip to Chicago and fell in love with his style all over again. :)

The Last Light of the Sun Is the one I have! I have never read it though. It's just been sitting on my bookshelf gathering dust with my other unread books. But that will change very soon! *makes notes of the names of the books*

Heh, I'm going to show my naivete here, since I don't drink at all, and I'm going to presume you mean the drinking games that I've heard of when you drink whenever something is repeated...

Yeah, that's what I meant. I forget that not everyone is an alcoholic like me :P

Oh! And of course there's the time I dreamed I was Robin and Batman let me drive the Batmoblie. That was fun.

That sounds fantastic! It's too bad you never get to kiss Batman as Superman though. I've had dreams where I'm Catwoman and dreams where I'm Lois, but never one of the boys.

Wales! I want to live in Wales because I feel far, far, more at home there than I do anywhere else.

Mmm. I would love to go back to Wales someday. We should plan a trip! For the future!

Yeah, that was a fun dream! It's not fair I never get kisses when I dream I'm one of the boys! *pouts*
