Bruce was gazing around at the quiet halls of Wayne Manor. He never noticed just how much his family had lightened the whole place up, brought laughter into nearly every single room, bringing sunlight back in. It was only when they were all gone, all out somewhere, off doing their own things that he really noticed. Even Alfred was away today, helping Leslie at the clinic. Bruce would have gone along with him to help, but Alfred (and Leslie) had insisted that he stay at home and recover from the bullet wound he had received a few nights ago. Bruce didn't think it was bad enough to stop him from helping Leslie, but he knew better than to argue with her and Alfred. Especially Alfred.
Bruce had just entered the family living room, the silence seeming so foreign, when he heard a screech of tires on gravel, heard car doors slamming, and raised voices; laughter at something. Bruce smiled. He heard the front door open with a bang, heard the voices rising, Dick and Jason arguing over something, Tim butting in every now and then, and his smile widened. He heard Dick's voice raise to a whine, knew that any second he would yelling for Bruce to get down there and settle the dispute, whatever it was.
Bruce's smile grew even more, as he heard his name being yelled. He wouldn't trade this for anything else in the world. He left the silent living room, and went to join his family.
