jsa_allstars Family Challenge. Unbetaed, so point and I shall correct.
Alan looked around the room full of heroes, seeing everyone talking and laughing and happy, as they so rarely were. A JSA/JLA get together was always able to that, though, mentors and students and the students becoming mentors to the next generation... Alan sighed, sparing a thought for those who had been lost, who would never get to teach again. But then Todd and Jennie walked past him, smiling and talking, and Alan could only feel joy.
There were family among family here, but they were all one big family, even those who claimed that they were loners, only ever worked alone. Alan's smile turned amused as he saw Bruce and Clark standing close together, heads bowed into one another as they talked, saw the glances in their direction from the other heroes and idly wondered how much money was in the pool now.
He saw Ted and Karen arguing, the sight a familiar one, saw Diana and Courtney talking, and smiled. Yes, they might not be related by blood, but they were a family nonetheless. One he was very proud to be a member of.
Alan smiled again and joined his children.
