Hello everyone! I'm back! It all went fine. :) I got there at 7am, and then had wait until 11 to get ready, going down to theatre at about 11:15. Whhyyyyy did you make me wait for so long? I sat in a chair for about 3 hours, very bored. *sighs* Anyway, I went down the the... uh... room they give you the anesthetic in, and the nurses were there, talking to me about my jewelery and stuff. They put a... thing that they give you injections into that's connected to a vein in your hand thing in. You know what I mean? Anyway, they put one of those in, and I just felt very sleepy and... heavy, lol. The next thing I knew I was waking up! Wheee, it was all over, and not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Anyway, I was down in recovery for some time cause for some reason the ward nurses weren't coming down to take me back up. On my nice bed with wheels on. I've never been in a lift in bed before, lol. Anyway. I went back to my room and was just generally sleepy. The consultant doctor person came to see me, and made sure I could move my fingers all okay and everything. I had a big foam kinda sling thing on that was elevating my arm, my brother said I had a Transformer arm, lol. Anyway, I was finally given food at about 3, and I had hot chocolate too. Nothing like chocolate to make you feel better! :) Anyway, after a little while I was able to come home! I've got a big bandage on, but it's left my fingers more exposed than I was expecting. I'm still a bit weird from the drugs, and they've given me painkillers and stuff. I think the recovery nurse said that they had given me a local anesthetic at my wrist, so I can't really feel it. Apart from my fingers being a bit numb. I've also been given some exercises to do - wriggling my fingers, LOL!
But, I'm okay! Loopy from the drugs, so this probably doesn't make any sense, but hey! :D

Date: 2007-08-03 06:52 pm (UTC)LOL, I was worried that it might not make any sense at all given how sleepy I was feeling...
I will wiggle the fingers and get better!

Date: 2007-08-03 01:41 am (UTC)Hospitals are terrible about that! They always make you show up early, and then take hours to actually see you. Grr. Stupid hospitals.

Your brother is funny : )
I really glad that everything went well for you! Here's to being high on painkillers for the next few days!
Actually, when I got my wisdom teeth out, I couldn't tolerate the Vicodin and threw up a lot. Um. Eat lots of food with your medicine!
Get well soon! Wiggle those fingers!

Date: 2007-08-03 07:05 pm (UTC)I should have brought my notebook so I could do some writing! But that might have been... awkward, lol.
My brother can be very funny, yes! :)
The painkillers knock me right out! I'm all sleepy after I have them... I'm taking the anti-inflammatory ones half through meals, since the same thing that happened to you happened to my mum. Chocolate=yum!
I'm wriggling the fingers! :)

... almost like it never happened! LOL. I didn't say this before because I didn't want to give you more to worry about, lol, but one of my worst fears about having surgery with general anesthetic is that I'd still be aware of what's going on, the pain, etc. but would also be too drugged up to make the doctors aware of that. *is paranoid* So anyway ... I'm relieved to hear that it was all just ... blink and it's over! :D
Ooo, and hot chocolate! Awesomest hospital food ever!
Yay for the painkillers, too! I've heard they're fun, but have never experienced them myself, lol. So ... enjoy being drugged up, and I hope your recovery is swift! It was good to hear from you. :D

I was trying to not think of the operation itself as much as possible! I think I woke up once or twice before, but I... don't remember those times, lol. My throat's hurting where they had to put the tube down me, though! That's been the worst so far...
The hot chocolate was very much appreciated, lol.
The painkillers knock me right out! I get very very sleepy after them... and then I fall asleep, lol.
Thank you for the lovely comment! I'm feeling much better! :)
