Bruce looked out the window of Clark's room at the Kent farmhouse. They sky was stormy - dark clouds mingled with lighter ones, creating a dull sky scape as they raced onwards, driven by the harsh winds. It had rained most of the morning, and though it was dry now, any moment the sky could unleash its fury again.
It was odd, seeing Smallville like this, with weather that far more suited his beloved Gotham. It didn't seem right - it was some kind of law of the universe that Smallville should be only bright and sunny, no matter how much he complained when it was, it was right.
He heard the stairs creak as someone walked up them; recognized the tread of the footsteps as Clark's. He came into his old room, smiled when he him sitting on the window seat, in an uncharacteristically vulnerable position, legs drawn up to his chest. Bruce wondered what he really saw, when he looked at him.
He took in Clark's wind tousled hair, his blue eyes that were darker than normal, had changed, so they looked closer to how his own normally looked. There was excitement in those eyes and Bruce knew it was caused by the weather - he had always loved the winds. He knew too, that Clark's hair would be damp and smell of ozone. But his eyes lightened when they looked at him, and his smile became softer, more close to the one only he got to see.
His hands were warm as they tucked a blanket carefully over him, ignoring his small huff of annoyance. Fingertips touched his face, brushed through his hair, and Bruce was captivated by Clark's eyes, enthralled at what he saw there.
Clark was looking back at him, one hand cradling his face and Bruce turned his head into the warmth. Clark smiled again, and it was like the sun coming out, turning the dull wet corn to gold. Clark's lips were soft and yet demanding against his own, and Bruce smiled, and lost himself in Clark's caresses, warming all the cold places of his soul.

Date: 2010-10-04 05:19 pm (UTC)It was nice to compare Smallville and Gotham here. (Beloved Gotham – I liked that. :) I think this is exactly how Bruce thinks about Gotham.)
He heard the stairs creak as someone walked up them; recognized the tread of the footsteps as Clark's.
AWWWW, he recognized Clark’s footsteps – great!
His hands were warm as they tucked a blanket carefully over him, ignoring his small huff of annoyance.
*grin* Poor Bruce :D I understand his annoyance. But I loved Clark being so careful of him.
Clark's lips were soft and yet demanding against his own, and Bruce smiled, and lost himself in Clark's caresses, warming all the cold places of his soul.
Wonderful ending!
That was so beautiful! Such a sweet, lovely moment even in that stormy, windy weather – I loved that!
Thanks for sharing. :)
