WRITER'S MEME: Sometimes it's okay to pimp yourself out. Post a list of the top five favorite fics you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.

Um, I cheated a bit, as there is more than 5 fics under the cut. It was difficult to choose these, as some of my favorite ones are ones that I haven't posted yet. But of the ones that I have... here they are.

1. Heartless aka the crazy Brucie fic. This was one of the first things that I wrote. It was also the beginning of me starting to write in 3rd person. This is a somewhat... strange fic. I was still getting used to writing Bruce at this point, and I wanted to write something different. I found the first sentence at Writing Fix, and once I started writing, this fic went in several different directions then I thought it would. My Bruce!Muse was coy until the very end. The ending, BTW, all came out of changing a word, and then I suddenly had it. Then, it sat on my hard drive for about 2 months, and I was very nervous about finally posting it. I liked it so much, I was really worried that people wouldn't, but they did. And I was very relived. I was also very touched when it inspired [livejournal.com profile] jen_in_japan to write her own take on a crazy Brucie.

2. Rescue Another very early fic. I really worried that Bruce would be seen as OOC here. He was just lying there, near death, but he wasn't doing anything to save himself! I tried to make that more believable by saying that he was very badly injured, but I'm not all that sure that it worked. And then Clark comes in and saves the day! Yay! :) I just really loved the image of this red and blue figure holding a badly hurt Batman in his arms. And the ending... again, I don't know if this came across, but I thought that while Bruce was lying there, and thinking of his family, that one of his regrets was never telling Clark that he loved him. And that he made himself a promise to himself that when he woke up, he would. So that's what happened. :)

3. The 'Storm' series. Storm was the first thing that I wrote in a long time, and it was what started me up again. I just got a sudden urge to write one night, and Storm was the result. I guess I just like the simplicity of it. Storm Prequel I like, because, again, it's very simple, but I like the underlying sexual tension in it. This is from Bruce's POV in my mind, although his name is never mentioned. And I liked the image of Kal - and it's clearly Kal to me here - with lightning illuminating his face. Storm Sequel Again, it's very simple. I liked the analogy between Bruce and Clark and a storm. I guess, in these stories, I was sort of thinking that they didn't get to be together very often, maybe only the rare occasions, like storms. The hot and cold air clashing. This one is from Clark's POV to me here. He's back to being Clark here, lol. Maybe Kal only comes out when there's a storm. ;)

4. Fortunate Exposure This is one of the longest things I've written. I had a lot of fun writing this one. Mainly because Bruce was in a constant state of shock. *giggle* It was inspired by a post that [livejournal.com profile] jen_in_japan made that was some Golden Age crack. It had Superman getting engaged to Lois after he had been exposed to Red Kryptonite and walked past her statue in the Fortress of Solitude, which made him fall in love with her. I immediately thought 'What would happen if he walked past his Batman statue instead?' This story sat in the back of my mind for a few days before I wrote it. It was a bit of a struggle at times. I had difficultly keeping the Golden Age to feel to this. My Bruce!Muse kept slipping back into the more modern version, and I had to fight a little bit to keep him in Golden Age. He did end up getting a more modern feel, but not as much as I feared. He did get rather woobie though. This was also my first real time writing Dick, and I was a little afraid of that as well. But, all in all, it was fun to write. The only thing I regret about it is that I didn't have Batman say "Great Scott!" I really wanted to have him say that. And I am thinking of a sequel, in case you are wondering! :)

5. Tie between Scars and Burn Out. I'll start with Scars. Scars was one of the first things I wrote from Clark's POV. This was inspired by another bunny that I had at the time, with a injured Bruce, and a worried Clark. Again, this is very simple. I kind of had a whole elven/human vibe going on in this fic. The immortal and the mortal. I don't really know why I like it so much. It's got a very heavy feeling to it. A finality. But I really like the line about Bruce challenging death so that he wouldn't leave his Clark. :) Burn Out's turn now. I have a love/hate relationship with this fic. A little background is needed, I think. Basically, I was pushing myself too hard and not giving myself any down time, and I had a burn out. I had a week away from the internet, and took steps to make sure that it wouldn't happen again. This fic was one of those steps. I wrote it really to help me get through it. I put Bruce in a similar situation, and wrote down everything I was feeling through him. The only reason that I posted it was so that I could go back to it when I started to feel like that again, and say 'This is what happens when you're being stupid'. So, it's very personal. However, I like it because it does have quite a nice pacing to it. And I really Clark and Bruce both believing that the other doesn’t love them, and then one of them snapping and both of them realizing their feelings are returned. It also featured the first time I wrote Bruce and Clark having an argument! Clark really does put up with a lot in fic, but he was so worried about Bruce, the dear.

So, there they are. My favorite fics that I've posted so far. Hope I didn't bore you too much! ;)

It's never boring to hear someone talk about their work! I love it!

Man, I remember that Storm series so vividly, and I totally remember and agree that it does feel like it switches from Kal to Clark. And it works perfectly.

A sequel to "Fortunate Exposure" would be awesome! And you can have Batman say "Great Scott!" in it! :)

"Heartless" definitely has a special place in my heart as well--it really burned a hole into my brain. I couldn't stop thinking about it! So I owe you for handing me the rabid little bunny. :)

LOL, I just read this list and think, "Oh, I like everything of hers! How nice!" :)

As the Storm series were the first things I really wrote, I'm really pleased that they were liked.

I'm really glad you liked Heartless. Like I said, I liked it so much that I was afraid that people wouldn't. Maybe part of my fear was because it was so different...

*grin* It's easier sometimes with the stories that you think are competent and you like them fine than with the stories you've come to love passionately, isn't it? I try very hard not to let people know early on which stories have somehow, for whatever reason, become "special" to me, because it makes me feel terribly vulnerable... ;)

Ohh! I love all those stories! It's interesting how Heartless was one of the first things you wrote, it doesn't feel that way. I love that one a lot.

Scars is one of my favorite drabbles ever, and I really like the way you make short stories have suh beautiful imagery. I'm particularly taken with your blood imagery *grins* you always get me with that one!

And I hadn't read Fortunate Exposure! I don't know how I missed it, but I did, but it's awesome! The golden age feel of that one is hilarious, and I just loooove the restrained but agonizing Bruce :) I love hearing the thoughts behind stories! thank you for taking your time to write this!

I think I posted 'Fortunate Exposure' while life was being crazy for you. That's probably how you missed it. It was a lot of fun to write in the Golden Age style. I'm looking forward to writing some more stories in that style again.

It was interesting for me to do this too. There were some things I didn't realize until I did this! :)

I'm not a member of Livejournal and I can't access "Burn Out". Is that why? And can you make it accessible if possible please? I'm curious.
