vigilante_wake, who requested: a Batman/Mr. Terrific ficlet where they're fixing the JLA's computers or something and turn each other on with their techno-geekiness! I'm not sure how techno-geeky this is... alright, it's not techno-geeky at all. And it turned out to be more serious than I thought it would be... anyway, I hope you like it! Unbetaed, so point and I shall correct.
Bruce glanced up from where he was sitting on the floor of the watchtower, untangling some wires. Michael quirked an eyebrow at him as he walked into the room. Bruce returned his attention to the mass of wires in front of him.
"So... you've had a field day in here, huh?" Michael's voice was amused as he stared at what was once the monitors. Bruce grunted.
Michael laughed lowly. "Here, let me help you with that." Bruce's bare fingers on the wires were joined by Michael's, who sat himself down, opposite him. "How'd they get in such a mess?"
Bruce sighed, but the corners of his mouth lifted upward slightly in a smile. "You know wires, Michael. They have the magical ability to tangle themselves up, even if you keep them separated."
Michael laughed again, and they continued untangling the wires in silence, fingers brushing against one another's. Bruce thought on his last words, how they could describe human lives. Even if you separated yourself from people, you would still have to interact with them, depend on strangers to grow food that you could eat, electricity for you to use, everything that you needed for life. You could never be totally independent from everyone. And, eventually, people would start to know you, recognize you, even if they didn't know your name. It was amazing, really.
Michael's fingers brushed against his again, and Bruce shook his head. He always started thinking things like that when he was up here alone, with Earth's glow gently illuminating the windows, blotting out the stars. He and Michael started work on a particularly tangled knot of wires. But he wasn't up here alone, was he? Michael was here.
The wires untangled at last. Michael sat back and sighed. Bruce moved to sit next to him, and they leaned back against the wall, looking out the windows at Earth. It looked so peaceful from up here. You would never know how much pain and suffering it's people endured from looking at it like this.
Michael sighed, and Bruce guessed they were thinking similar thoughts. He turned his head to look at him. Michael did the same. They stared at one another for a few minutes before their lips seemed to meet of their own accord. They kissed slowly, exploring each others mouths, bathed in Earth's glow. Bruce smiled into the kiss. The wire of his life was tangling with another's again.

Date: 2008-01-07 01:20 am (UTC)Awwww! And I agree with the previous posters, the wire metaphor is really great and very Bruce. I also like how comfortable and natural they are with each other in this fic. Bravo!

Date: 2008-01-07 03:38 am (UTC)Who can turn the world on with her smile?
Who can take a nothing day, and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile?
Well it's you girl, and you should know it!
That's how I think of you, because whether it's a ficlet, or a Christmas card, or a comment on my journal, you have a knack for cheering me up and reminding me that I do have friends out there, even if they aren't in close proximity.
I'm not sure how techno-geeky this is... alright, it's not techno-geeky at all.
Don't worry! This is perfect.

I love how conscious of their bare hands Bruce is. Since they almost always go around in gloves, it's probably rather alluring.
They stared at one another for a few minutes before their lips seemed to meet of their own accord.
The best kind of kiss!
This is just a perfect little fic. Thank you so much!

You know, I took that bit out, about the bare hands, but Bruce made me put it back in again, LOL. I'm really glad he did, now.
*glomps you* Yay! I'm really glad you liked it! :D

Date: 2008-01-09 07:50 pm (UTC)Oh, this is soooo beautiful, Star! (I was going to write 'Clark', lol! Clark writing fanfic! Clark writing Michael/Bruce! LOL!) That last moment, with them looking at Earth and kissing, omg!!! oh, oh, Star! I have no words, that's so gorgeous.
The metaphor of their lives as wires -and man, how do wires always tangle by themselves?? they are aliveee!- and how they kiss almost without thinking. *sigh* This is such a gorgeous quiet moment, I adored this pieces. Michael/Bruce! everybody wins!
