Author's Note: It's crazy. It's from Charlie the Owl's POV, which tells you how insane I've gone. It's also unbetaed, so point and I shall correct.
Charlie stared about at the room. The Nice Man, the one who looked after him had come here, so of course Charlie had had to come with him. The Nice Man came here a lot, spending almost as much time here as he did at the other place, the one where lots of different people came and went, and the Nice Man helped them. So did Charlie, sometimes.
Charlie liked the Nice Man. He looked after him, making sure he always had somewhere to perch, even if it was on him. And he took Charlie lots of places too, letting him fly around.
The Nice Man was reading something, frowning. Charlie was just about to fly over to him and see what it was when he heard them.
Charlie became very still.
The other man, the one with the annoying flying things that weren't birds - Charlie had tried talking to them, but they never replied - came into the room, and stood next to the Nice Man. They were making the strange noises that passed as speech. The Nice Man was tired; there had been lots more people at the other place then usual, asking for his help. The man with the Not-Birds was worried. So was Charlie.
The man with the Not-Birds placed a hand on the Nice Man's shoulder, and Charlie flew down to the table in front of the Nice Man, landing on the special perch he had put there for him. Charlie 'whooed' at him, telling him to listen to the man with the Not-Birds. The Nice Man stroked his feathers, and Charlie 'whooed' again, this time in pleasure.
The man with the Not-Birds sat down on the desk, and Charlie blinked up at him. If the Not-Birds were birds, Charlie would have told them to tell him to mate with the Nice Man. The Nice Man loved him. The man with the Not-Birds loved him back. But they hadn't mated.
Charlie was forced to conclude that humans were stupid.
Two more people walked in the room, the tall man with the brightly colored costume, and the one dressed all in black, with the pointy things on his head. Charlie didn't know what they were for, but they weren't any good for perching on. He had tried. The tall man in the bright colors had laughed and taken him back to the Nice Man. Charlie liked the tall man. He didn't mind when Charlie accidentally bit him. He had just stroked his feathers.
The man with the Not-Perches on his head and the Tall Man loved each other too. They weren't mates either.
Charlie was forced to conclude that humans were idiots.
Charlie flew up to sit on the Nice Man's shoulder, and flapped his wings in agitation. The Nice Man stroked his feathers again, and Charlie sighed.
Surely humans couldn't be stupid forever?
