Title: Rescue
Rating: PG
Pairing: Bruce/Clark
Word Count: 175
Disclaimer: I own nothing
I watch as blood wells from a scratch on my hand, red slowing forming into drops that look like priceless gems, before they slowly slip and drop to stain the floor in inexplicable beauty.
The cut was a minor one when compared to the wound that would end my life.
Even now, I could feel my life slowly trickling away with every drop of blood that fell from my body and was absorbed into the ground of my beloved Gotham.
I knew that I would die this day, in an abandoned warehouse, alone, as I had lived my life.
As I said my silent goodbyes to those closest to me, and my grip on life started to fail, there was suddenly a bright light, and a great blur of blue and red.
Even as the blackness finally closed in around me, as he clasped me in his arms and we flew to the safety of the cave, I knew that this was not the day I would die.
This was a day I would live.

Date: 2007-02-18 07:49 pm (UTC)Strangely enough, that part of it came to me just after I had finished eating dinner one day and I was looking at a scratch on my own hand. Then it was a mad dash to get it written down before I forgot it.
I'm glad you liked the way the blood went into Gotham. And, yes, Hurray for Clark!

Date: 2007-02-19 11:24 am (UTC)You know, I have images of some monster being made from Bruce's blood now.
And you're a varied enough writer that I wasn't sure he would be saved, so I was very relieved at the ending!
I would never kill Bruce! Permanently, that is. *smiles innocently*
There's something just so wonderful about the word "clasped," isn't there...
There is indeed! I'm glad you liked it, Jen!
