I think I've broken my laptop. It's not turning on properly, I mean, it turns on, but I can hear a sound like a 'KerKlank' and then a high pitched whining sound, so... It sounds like it's sort of stuck loading something, or attempting to load something. I could be grossly overreacting, but I'm waiting until my brother comes home (hopefully sometime tomorrow) before I attempt to turn it on again. And if it is something bad... Well.

I'm using the family computer, but my online time is drastically reduced, and I won't be keeping up with the flist or comments or mail until things are sorted out. I'll be reading, just not commenting. :) I have no idea when I'll next be posting, either. I was planning on posting the next chapter of Master and Slave tomorrow, but since it's on my laptop...

So, I just thought I'd let everyone know why I've suddenly gone silent. I will be attempting to not go insane from laptop deprivation and praying that if anything is wrong, it can be fixed, or at least data can be retrieved, because otherwise I'm losing all my stories. Also, I'm very very worried, because if it needs to be fixed, they will discover all my illegal downloads!!!! And the explicit S/B fanarts I've saved, not to mention my fic, of course...

Any good thoughts would be appreciated!!

Take the bottom cover off the laptop, over the Hard Drive. I'm betting the screws that keep it tightly in place are loose or out. Mine did that. Loud noise, lots of vibration, and hesitating to load from time to time.

I've got a data stick, but I use it for lots of business stuff, so I couldn't keep my stories on there. And if I had lots I know I'd loose them all...

All your fic is on the laptop?? You don't use Google Docs? I can't use memory sticks because I lose them all the time, but Google Docs has saved me from having to worry about losing things many a time...

I've started using GoogleDocs now, and I'm amazed at how easy it is to use! I'm going to be using them from now on...

I've gotten really spoiled by Google Docs. I know I should still keep a backup of everything anyway, but...generally between LJ and Google Docs everything's in two places in the long run...

I have some of your fic, so if you lose your files.. at least I can send you back these :S I'm sorry your computer is being evil, dear! *huuugs* I'm pretty sure even if your brother can find the files, he won't go like, opening each and every one of them, so maybe your happy files will be safe? ..either way *huuuugs*

My brother is trying to get my stuff off, but his first attempt didn't work! But he's going to try some other ones, so... I actually managed to salvage most of my fic (that I was going to post, anyway) from when I sent them to you. So... yay for sending Mina fic! :P
