Drabble: Dark and Light

The sky was lightening to dawn. Superman hovered in the sky, his cape bright against the darkness. Below him Batman was still swathed in shadows. Another nights work done. For both of them.
He touched down in front of Batman. The other man hadn’t been hurt tonight, and Kal felt tension loosen its grip on his heart. He knew it would only return, this evening, but for now things were all right.
They stood before each other for a moment, just watching one another, speaking more than a thousand words. Then a smile spread across Superman’s face, like the sun rising behind him.
Batman’s lips quirked and Kal could resist no longer. He pulled him into an embrace, and the dark and light mingled around them as Superman kissed Batman.
