dcu_freeforall. Writer's Choice prompt of Remembrance. Also for
dcu_freeforall's Valentine's Challenge, special prompt of Anniversary. Unbetaed, so point and I shall correct!
It was a difficult day for them. For many, it brought happiness, but for them... Valentine's Day was more melancholy.
Michael would think of Paula, of course. Of the Valentine's Days they had spent together, before her death. He would think of their unborn child as well, considering how things could have been so different, if he was a father.
Pieter tried to be as unobtrusive as possible, not wanting to infringe on her place in Michael's heart. It was cliche, but they truly had no need of Valentine's Day; every day was a celebration, a blessing. Every battle survived was a miracle.
They went together to Paula and the unborn child's - Terry's - graves. Michael laid roses, and Pieter prayed for them.
They didn't say a word to each other.
But then, they had never had to.
