paxwolf! Happy Birthday! :) Unbetaed, so point and I shall correct.
Bruce closed his eyes in anguish, mentally flinching away from what they had seen.
"Bruce," Clark whispered his name hoarsely, and Bruce's eyes flew open.
Clark's eyes were staring into his own, the light blue turned dark by pain. And something else. Bruce swallowed. Past the pain, the agony, deeper than than it, was worry and concern. And deeper still, he thought he could see glimmers of love. For him.
Bruce swallowed again. That Clark was worrying about him when he was so badly injured... His pale skin was tinted green with the glow of Kryptonite, its poison reaching far into Clark's veins.
He forced himself to break eye contact with Clark, to steady his trembling hands. "It's going to be okay, Clark." He removed medical supplies from his belt, almost missing Clark's small smile. Almost.
"I know." Clark's smile grew, belief shone in his eyes. Bruce found himself breathing a little easier, his heart slowing its frantic pace, and felt a tiny smile tugging at his own lips.
