Clark smiled lazily as he stretched out on the sandy beach, feeling the sunlight on his skin, his cells filling with energy. He sighed, happy, and closed his eyes, savoring the feeling of the sunlight, the feeling that nothing else could bring.
A gentle breeze was blowing, the tropical air on the deserted island that was one of his favorite spots to sunbathe on caressing his hair. Clark's smile widened when he heard his lover's heartbeat approach, the sound of his footsteps on the beach.
He felt droplets of water splashing on his chest, and opened his eyes to see Bruce standing over him, naked like him, save for swim trunks, dripping wet from his swim, and with a hungry look in his eyes.
Clark grinned up at Bruce, who licked his lips, before kneeling next to him, and running his hands over his chest, making him moan. Clark pulled him close for a kiss, feeling his wet hair and skin again his own, and smiled.

Bruce wrapped his arms tighter around Kal as his lover flew faster, a small smile dancing with his lips. He felt cool wetness against his face and pressed closer to Kal. They came to a gentle halt and Bruce pulled away from Kal slightly to look at the ground, laced with fluffy white clouds far below them. He looked at Kal, face framed by the sky, hair moving, being blown out of its usual neat style by the wind.
Kal smiled at him slowly, and Bruce felt his breath hitch, his heartbeat starting to race, though it had stayed even while they had been flying up here. Kal's smile increased, almost unnoticeably, and Bruce knew he was listening, knew that he knew what he was doing to him.
He shivered, gazing into those eyes, the blue unlike any other colour in the universe, though the skies around them tried to come close. Kal brought him close again, their bodies warm against each other, then kissed him slowly, while Bruce felt the sky swirling about them, the perfect blues mingling with one another...
And woke alone, with a gasp, like he always did.
Title: Sunset
Rating: PG
Pairing: Clark/Bruce
Word Count: 378

Author's Note: For my
12_stories table. Prompt: Sunset. Also, I hate tenses.
Clark flew through the red sky, chasing the dying sun. He always seemed to be chasing the setting sun now, the colours of the sunsets dancing over his body, never the same as the last one, each with hundreds of different shades, some which human eyes couldn't even see... He thought, for a moment, what a terrible waste it was, how most people didn't really look at the sunset, didn't really see it, not at all.
There was one who always did, though, knowing it was time for him to start his work, a signal lighting up the whole sky. Perhaps, Clark thinks on the... He can't remember how many days it has been, all of them blurring together in the painted hues of the sun, he shouldn't even be doing this. Obsessively chasing after the dying sun, trying desperately to recapture moments he knows, in his heart of hearts, he'll never feel again, even if he remains alive until at last, finally, finally, all the stars go out and he can rest...
He knows he'll never feel it again, because Bruce isn't here anymore. Will never watch a sunset with him again, never see the reds and oranges playing upon his lover's skin, his hair, lighting up his eyes with amber fire.
Sunset, their special time: the bridging of day and night, the time when they could come together without any masks, no masks at all, and just be.
Kal's heart ached.
He'll never be able to share it with anyone else, because Bruce just instinctively knew him, was never frightened ofKal at his most alien, never patronising of Clark from Smallville, and listened with interest to Clark Kent, reporter.
While he can maybe share those with others, he won't be able to share all of himself at once. Clark knows all of these things, so he follows the dying sun every day, and talks to Bruce anyway, sharing himself all over again, and seeing Bruce's responses in the colours of the sky.
