jsa_allstars Teamwork challenge. Unbetaed, so point and I shall correct.
Charlie sighed. Everything had gone wrong!!! It had started in the morning, when he had been sleeping in the place with lots of books (keeping a wary eye out for the Not-Not Perches human). There had been a sudden series of loud noises that woke him up, and then everything had gotten very dark.
Charlie blinked. He hadn't been asleep that long! He heard voices nearby and flew silently closer, staying within the safety of the books. He saw people he had never seen before, and he didn't like them. They were even worse that the Not-Not Perches human. And that was saying a lot.
One of the strange people laughed and Charlie had to hold back an angry hiss. They moved away, with Charlie silently following, to the place where all the things that looked like they would be really good perches, if not for the fact that someone (Charlie suspected the Man with the Not-Birds. Or the Really Fast Kind Man) had covered them all with something that didn't let Charlie perch on them. It was really annoying.
Anyway, he followed them there, and then saw the people he usually saw, and the Nice Man, all lying on the floor, looking like they were sleeping.
Charlie could see blood on the Nice Man. The evil people had hurt him!!!!!
He was about to fly over to them, talons first, when he saw movement out the corner of his eye. He turned his head and saw... it. The...Cat. The Cat looked at him, and Charlie looked back. It looked like it was grey today. Sometimes it was brown. Charlie didn't know how it could change color so often. Maybe it was a strange cat thing.
The Cat slowly edged closer to him, and Charlie tensed. The evil people were still talking and hadn't noticed Charlie, or The Cat. The Cat jumped up onto Charlie's perch. Charlie eyed it. The Cat eyed him back.
They looked at the good people, and Charlie could see the young bright colored haired one, the One Who Liked Stars, was awake, but trying not to show it. The Cat made a quiet 'meowing' noise, and Charlie looked back at it.
They looked at each other again. Charlie nodded, and The Cat jumped down quietly and moved over to the evil people. Charlie flew to the door, hovering there until The Cat struck. He heard one of the evil people scream, but Charlie was flying to the place where the Man with the Not-Birds and the Not-Not Perches human spent lots of time. The place with all the buttons!!
Charlie flew over and started pressing as many buttons as he could. There were lots of strange noises, and the lights flickered lots. Charlie saw The Man in Brightly Colored Clothes for a moment, then The Man Who Liked Making Green Things Appear appeared. Or half of him did, anyway.
He blinked at Charlie. Charlie blinked back. He blinked again. Charlie 'whooed' at him, telling him to get here and wake the Nice Man up.
There was a sudden gust of wind, and the Really Fast Kind Man was there. Charlie 'whooed' at him, then flew away, towards the room with the evil people in.
The Cat was hissing at them, and the One Who Liked Stars was fighting them. The Really Fast, Kind Man rushed over to help, and Charlie flew over to the Nice Man, who was waking up. Charlie perched on his chest, then 'whooed' at him when he saw his eyes moving. He was awake at last!
The Man with the Not-Birds came in with The Man Who Liked Making Green Things Appear, and soon the evil people were tied up. Charlie shared a smug looked with The Cat. The Really Fast Kind Man came over to the Nice Man and Charlie, then petted him carefully. So did the Nice Man.
