I hadn't heard anything at all about it coming from Russia, but that would explain it, I guess... When I could get it to work I could always see lots of posts from people in America...
From what I could find out, it looks like it's a political attack! Apparently a lot of Russian political bloggers use Livejournal, and there's been an attack against a specific group of anti-government bloggers, trying to force them off LJ. There's some suspicion it might be part of the Russian government that's doing it, which would explain why they're so tenacious and successful. I'm a bit worried they might be able to bring down LJ altogether in any practical sense, but today has been better! *knocks on wood*
