Drabble: Forever

People said that it wouldn't last. That something would happen, and then he would break Clark's heart. They said he was using him, only taking him to his bed so he had access to Superman in a vulnerable state, and could do experiments and run tests. And poor Superman was a victim of Stockholm Syndrome.

Bruce gritted his teeth when he heard that one.

This was why he hadn't wanted anyone outside of their families to know. He knew that they wouldn't understand. But he was lucky. Clark did. Clark always had, though it had taken him a while to truly do so. It had taken him a while to admit to it all, as well.

But Clark did know. Knew that when he gave his heart, fully, as he had given it to him... that nothing could break it. That it was forever.

Yes! I always love stories where outsiders don't know what's going on and can't possibly understand, but the lovers and close loved ones know. :)

Oh, I really like this! I so rarely think about other peoples' reactions, but of course people would assume the worst, and of course Bruce would hear of it. I can just imagine him gritting his teeth and trying not to let it get to him... *pets Bruce carefully*

I always love the image of Bruce as reluctant to commit, in part because he knows it's not a light thing for him. His intensity is not given frivolously!

Poor Bruce, everybody seems to think he has no heart, but he only guards it so well because it´s so very very vulnerable. Of course Clark can see underneath the armour, and he doesn´t even need x-ray vision to do that!
