vigilante_wake's birthday! *glomps* She asked for Charlie the owl vs. Powergirl's cat? Who will be the official mascot of the JSA?! Unbetaed, so point and I shall correct! :)
Charlie flew into the room with the square with ropes around it. Normally The Person In Black With Ears And Whiskers (Who Wasn't The Not-Not-Perches Human) was here, but today it was empty.
Charlie perched carefully on one of the ropes, feeling it sway under him, like a branch. Hmmm. Maybe he'd have to perch here more often! It seemed like a really good spot...
Just as he was settling down, he caught sight of a flash of color. Charlie turned his head, and saw... The Cat.
Charlie glared at it. It just walked into the middle of the square with ropes around it, and looked at him, before it started licking a paw.
Charlie shuddered. Stupid thing.
The Cat looked at him, as if it had heard what he thought. But it couldn't! Nothing could do that! Charlie leaned forward a bit on the rope.
The Cat hissed.
Charlie flapped his wings, and squawked, making sure The Cat saw his beak. The Cat hissed again, moving backwards a little, then forwards, like it was going to... pounce!!
Charlie squawked again and flew up, just as The Cat leaped at him. There was a crash, then silence. Charlie turned his head, and saw The Cat had leaped into one of those things that looked like they would be really good perches but where covered up. But The Cat had broken the stuff that covered it up!! The Cat was going to be in so much trouble!
There was a yell, and Charlie flew higher, slightly started. The Person In Black With Ears And Whiskers (Who Wasn't The Not-Not-Perches Human) was standing in the doorway, then stalked over to The Cat, who hadn't moved in time. Charlie watched as The Person In Black With Ears And Whiskers (Who Wasn't The Not-Not-Perches Human) picked The Cat up by its neck, and yelled again as The Cat started shrieking.
The Nice Man appeared in the door, and Charlie hooted, then quickly flew over to him, perching on his shoulder, some feathers coming free at the speed of his movement. The Nice Man petted him, and Charlie cooed.
The Cat was still shrieking, and now the Person In White And Red was there, yelling at The Person In Black With Ears And Whiskers (Who Wasn't The Not-Not-Perches Human), trying to take The Cat from him.
Charlie hopped down to The Nice Man's arm, and nuzzled him, before he and The Nice Man left, the other humans still arguing, and The Cat still shrieking.
Charlie smirked.
