Drabble: Hug

Author's Note: For my Trinity claim at dcu_freeforall. Prompt of 'Hug'. Perhaps set sometime after Superman's death and return, or after he's been away for a long time. Unbetaed, so point and I shall correct.



Clark stood before Bruce and Diana. Kal-El stood before a goddess and a mortal man. Superman stood before Batman and Wonder Woman.

"Welcome back." Batman said gruffly, but Kal could hear his breathing, the stuttering of his heart.

"Kal." Diana stepped forward, cupping his face with her hands, looking into his eyes. She smiled, almost girlishly, then engulfed him in a hug. Clark wrapped his arms about her, closing his eyes, breathing in the smell of her hair.

Bruce's heartbeat was loud in his ears. He opened his eyes, then reached out one of his arms towards the Dark Knight. After a moment, Bruce stepped forward, joining them.

Clark closed his eyes again, arms about his friends, their arms about him in turn.
