Drabble: Polka Dot Wings

Bruce let his head thud against the wall gently, his eyes shut. Maybe then he could ignore what had happened. Maybe.

His wings felt heavy on his back, and he rustled them, trying to get some of the water off. It didn't work, of course. Just as the water hadn't removed the colors that were staining his wings now.

The black had gone, replaced with a bright yellow with purple polka dots.

Bruce thumped his head against the wall again. He was doomed. Especially if Clark saw-

"Oh! Bruce, you're home..."

Bruce tried to close his wings to little success. All right, he would just keep his eyes shut then. Maybe Clark would go away.

"Bruce?"

Bruce ignored him, but then he felt Clark gently taking one of his wings in his hands and spreading it. As always, Clark's caressing fingers on his wings made a shiver go down his spine. He opened his eyes when he felt Clark's other hand touch his face. Clark wasn't laughing at him, instead he was just looking at him with concern.

"What happened, love?"

Bruce sighed. He was too embarrassed to explain.

Clark just kissed him softly. "Let me help you clean it off?"

How could Bruce deny him? He nodded, and was rewarded with one of Clark's brilliant smiles. Together, they started to clean his wings, Clark humming and singing softly, and Bruce found himself relaxing as he hadn't since all this had started. Or, if he was entirely truthful, until he had last seen Clark.

"Are you falling asleep?" Clark's amused voice was in his ear.

"Not really," Bruce murmured and his lover laughed gently.

"I love you."

Bruce opened his eyes and saw that finally, his black feathers were starting to return. "Even with yellow and purple polka dot wings?" He asked, smiling faintly, for the first time seeing the humour in the situation.

"I told you I would, didn't I?" Another kiss was pressed to his neck, and Bruce felt a larger smile tugging at his mouth. He gently caught one of Clark's hands with his his, and raised it to his lips, feeling Clark's shiver.

Poor Bruce, all humiliated. Yellow with purple polka dots! Hmm, the purple makes me think Lex or the Joker had a hand in this. ;)

I love the concept of the wings being sensual for our boys. ;)

Bruce relaxing when Clark's there...aww! Double aww! for Clark's understanding and humming while he cleans the wings. ;)

I loved that. Clark welcoming Bruce so nicely, being concerned what happened and helping him to clean the wings - that was so amazing and lovely.

Bruce opened his eyes and saw that finally, his black feathers were starting to return. "Even with yellow and purple polka dot wings?" He asked, smiling faintly, for the first time seeing the humour in the situation.
That was perfect! I’m glad Clark managed to get Bruce relaxed and even seeing a humor in the situation.

They two were awesome in this beautifully written story!

There's something sort of... right about both of them having wings. Even if Bruce has purple and yellow polkadot wings. heh.

Of course now I'm wondering if the dots were so large that they covered several feathers at once or if the dots were so small that there were several on one feather alone. :)

Aww! Somehow I love the touch of Bruce closing his eyes and hoping Clark just goes away, the poor dear. *hugs him* And mmmm, yay for grooming rituals!

I love the image of the bathroom filled with Clark's soft humming voice! And Bruce with the yellow wings with purple porka dots! Eee! He's so adorable when he shut his eyes off to ignore them. XD
