Ramblings and Fic and Why Star might be quieter than normal...

The chapter I just posted of 'Batman's Files and Bruce's Diary' is going to be the last for a while. I don't know when the next chapter will be up, but I'm thinking maybe Dick's birthday. Maybe. But I'm basically going to be writing it when I feel like writing it, rather than feeling obligated to write it everyday.

I've been treading close to having a burn out for the last 3 weeks, and I think writing that everyday, as well as writing another story at the same time, something that I really don't like doing, has been draining me a lot. I also have some issues, as people have no doubt realized, about characterization, and the feeling that I have no real grasp on any of the characters I'm writing, or hope to write. So I'm going to be re-reading comics.

I'm also going to be taking a little break from fandom. Maybe just 3-4 days or something. I just need to... recharge, and relax for a bit. I'm going to try to keep up with the flist, but I will probably get behind in e-mails and stuff. I'm going to keep up with anything related to [livejournal.com profile] jsa_allstars, of course. Oh, and Jen, I hope to get the essay to you soon, but it might not be until next Thursday or Friday now. I'm not sure.

I'll be posting the next chapter of Master and Slave tomorrow, but I don't know when I'm next going to be posting any other fic. I'm going to be concentrating on writing AU's for the time being, with an exception of a Charlie drabble.

So... if I'm a bit quieter, that's why! :)

*snugs* Recharging batteries can be really necessary! Often it gets forced on us by external forces like vacations, but a self-applied break can be good too...

Looking forward to reading the essay!

Oh, hon!! *hugs you tight*

I totally understand the burnout of posting daily. It can be tough, especially if you have multiple projects going on.

But please don't ever think your characterizations are wrong. No matter if they sometimes go a little AU - if anything, I think your Bruce is *brilliant*.

*hugs you some more*

Rest up. We'll be here when you get back.

A time away for re-charging? Always works for me! :)

I wouldn't worry too much about your AU characterization. By its very nature, AU is going to bring out different facets of the characters we know. Your Bruce in the slavefic, for example, still has his aggression, but deeply buried, as you hint that a past occurrence is keeping it that way. And his compassion is pure Bruce! :)

The Bruce of the Files stories is very much the Bruce we know: self-flagellating, responsible, insecure, etc. But still with so much love in him that everyone puts up with his craziness and they pretty much revolve around him. :)

Oh Star, I write so slowly that I can't imagine how you've been posting something every day! No wonder you're burned out!

I'm praying that tomorrow is a slow day at work so I can spend time catching up fandom-wise. I really want to read your Master and Slave fic and your JSA stories. It seems like every time I have free time recently, I feel like reading a book or watching TV or something. I need to remedy this.

Enjoy your well-deserved break! *hugs*

Take your time :)
Fandom should be a pleasure, not pressure!

*pops in* Take a breather and find your muses, honey! I know what you mean about posting daily, I was feeling like my personal Bruce had overrode my fic Bruce (why, yes, they are different! lol) with the Mail fic I was trying to do daily, that's one of the reasons I had to stop, even if I love the story. I just.. lost focus of what the character I was supposed to emulate was, since my take on him was so constant... I don't know if it's something like that for you, but in any case, a little distance helps a lot, I'm sure you'll be back on that horse in no time :)

Feel better, and I'll get around to the mail soon! sooooon!! *huuugs*

Enjoy your break! I hope you feel well rested.

I understand how you feel on the writing every day thing... Phoenixverse! gah! (it was a great experience, but Darkdanc3r had to help me. A lot.)

You take as long as you need. I've slowed way down too, for similar reasons.

*huggs*

Take all the time you need.

And I wouldn't worry about characterization. Writing is subjective and not everyone is going to agree with you do. Besides when you start writing *just* for the people and not for yourself it sometimes makes things less enjoyable as you second guess yourself waayyy more than necessary.

Hey Stars,
writing that diary fic on a daily basis (among other stories on top of that!) was truly a Herculean feat, so you´ve really earned yourself a break.

Regarding the characterization, you shouldn´t worry at all. Variety is the spice of life, and I for one rather prefer reading about a character seen from different angles. Your depressed and wanting-to-die Bruce is all the more lovable! :)
