Drabble: The Darkest Night of the Year
Title: The Darkest Night of the Year

It was the darkest night of the year.
Gotham spread out dark below him, with only faint glimmers of distant light. Artificial light, not real at all, really.
Batman turned in Superman’s arms and looked toward the east, to where the very first grey glimmers of dawn lighted the clouds.
From this day on the light would continue to grow, each day would be a little longer, filled with a little more light...
There was a metaphor in there, Batman thought wryly, as he glanced at Superman’s face.
His face that was lit with the very first rays of light.
