Drabble: Valentine's Day

Another Valentine's Day had been and gone. Bruce had gone to work. So had Clark. Situations around the world required Superman's presence. Bruce had a power lunch. Clark had written up stories and done research.

Bruce had left work early, to knowing looks and winks. Clark had left late, no one else still working to give him pitying looks.

Superman went on patrol, stopping in at the Watchtower to ensure there were no alien threats. Batman had got to work on the dark streets of Gotham, breaking up a gang war.

Superman finally went home around 2am. Batman did only as dawn was touching the horizon.

They only had time for a brief kiss. It was enough.

Oh wow, I really love what you're doing with structure in your stories lately, and I love the way you work in parallels and opposites in this story that bring them always back together. It's like a dance with one perfect kiss at the heart of it. Just plain lovely.

LOL, that's more a coincidence - I wrote this a year ago, but just missed out on Valentine's Day, so I had to wait for this year. But I really enjoyed writing this one, and working the parallels on what Bruce and Clark were doing throughout the day.
