shardsofblu/quickbeam. First time writing Damian, and I'm not up to date on canon. Unbetaed, so point and I shall correct.
And, thank you, very much, to the people who voted for me in the WFA. I still can't believe how many I got... O_O
Dick had brought her back to the cave. It was odd... It both felt like home and didn't. It looked different, but not in the way she had expected. Dick's changes, she realized. Not Bruce's.
She felt him coming before she heard him, could feel his anger and-
"Ah." Dick was suddenly there. "Cass, this is Damian. The new Robin. Bruce's son."
The child glared at her, and she felt a shock. That was a Bruce look, though it was normally reserved for criminals.
"Damian, this is Cass, the former Batgirl."
"I know who she is." The child's tone spoke clearly how he felt, but his body... "She is a traitor. Do you know what we do to traitors, girl?"
"That is enough, Damian. Cass is no traitor."
Damian glared at her again, and she was again startled at how much it reminded her of Bruce. But she could see deeper than that. Could see that under it all, under all his anger and aggression, there was pain. A great deal of pain. She wondered what his life before had been like, if it had been similar to hers.
Because she could see the same need in him that there still was in her. A need to be accepted. To be part of a family. To have a man like Bruce as your protector. Dick was a good big brother. But he wasn't... Bruce.
"I'll be keeping an eye on you," Damian snarled.
Cass felt Dick take a breath to say something, but, for the first time, she smiled. "And I," she said, knowing her tone sounded like that of a big sister rather than a threat, "will be keeping an eye on you."

And Cass! Oh she's just perfect here. The way she could see right through people instantly, understands them in that quiet way of hers.
Thank you so much for this. ♥

And thank you very much for all your awesome stories.
The child glared at her, and she felt a shock. That was a Bruce look, though it was normally reserved for criminals.
WOW, "a Bruce look" – I loved that!
But she could see deeper than that. Could see that under it all, under all his anger and aggression, there was pain. A great deal of pain.
Cass seeing the resemblance between Bruce and Damian – I liked it. And it was amazing how she could see the true Damian’s feelings – his pain.
A need to be accepted. To be part of a family. To have a man like Bruce as your protector. Dick was a good big brother. But he wasn't... Bruce.
That was excellently written!
"And I," she said, knowing her tone sounded like that of a big sister rather than a threat, "will be keeping an eye on you."
AWWWWW! A big sister – perfect!
I loved the way you wrote Damian in this story. I think you described his true feelings and needs so well! And Cass, being able to see it all and understand it – that was so wonderful!
Thank you so much for sharing this. :)

I like adding in touch of how Damian resembles Bruce. It was fun.
AWWWWW! A big sister – perfect!
