fictionalknight's birthday! She requested 'Wee!Dick and Ace'. Happy Birthday! I hope you have a great day! :) Unbetaed, so point and I shall correct.
Wayne Manor was so big. And empty. Oh, not of objects. No, there were objects everywhere, worth more money than Dick could ever imagine. But there were no people. Just rows and rows of corridors and empty rooms and portraits of people staring at you.
Sure, there was Alfred, but the guy walked like a ghost. Somehow, the only place he seemed real was in the kitchen. And Bruce was... well. There some of the time. But most of the time not. No one could be that busy all the time.
So, to say Dick was stunned when he idly walked into one of the many lounges and found a dog inside would be an understatement.
*****
They had become inseparable. At first, Dick had been a little wary - the dog was huge, after all. Almost the size of a baby elephant. But, he thought with a giggle, you had to have a big dog. A smaller one would get lost in a place like this.
The dog was a steel grey and had regarded Dick solemnly for several moments at first, before lowering his head and roughly licking his face. He had laughed, for what felt like the first time since... since everything.
Ace, he discovered the dog was called. They went on adventures together, searching for lost treasure and exploring strange new worlds. Ace would sleep on his bed, much to Alfred's dismay, but Dick just laughed.
He had found a friend. And it didn't matter one bit that he wasn't human.

Poor little Dickie bird all lost in a big Manor with no little playmates, until he finds Ace. I loved this, it was so cute and sounded so much like something a young boy would think: "But, he thought with a giggle, you had to have a big dog. A smaller one would get lost in a place like this." *g*
Thank you so much, Star! I absolutely adore this story!
*great big hugs*

I love your image of Dick in this, he's absolutely adorable. The Manor seems almost magic from his POV, I love how he seems to be having fun exploring on his own. *hugs him*

I was prehaps making Dick a little more of an introvert than I should have, lol! But it's canon that he's alone until he finds out who Bruce is, isn't it? He'll be fine, of having adventures with Ace! *pets them*
Thank you for commenting, Jen, I'm so glad you liked it! :D

Hee! I know! He was so shocked, lol. Ace!!! Ace needs to be in more fics. He is a awesome bat dog, why isn't he in fics?
I'm glad you like the touch of Ace sleeping on Dick's bed too. And Alfred not approving, of course he won't! :p
