Superman crashed through the sky, his heart thudding loudly in his ears. The distress call from Batman... He felt fear strike at his heart. He had to find him. Now.
The search felt like hours; his fear and terror swirling inside him, like a hurricane, a flood. That he wouldn't find Bruce, that he would be too late...
A patch of darkness, tinged with red. He rushed to it, seeing Bruce, bloodied, armor torn and ripped, his left shoulder and upper arm bare, blood around the edges of the grey material, falling to the ground beneath him.
He let out a cry, falling next to him, fear overwhelming him again. Was Bruce...? No! He couldn't be!
He placed a hand on the pale, cold shoulder, shaking it. "Batman?"
The eyes of the cowl moved. Batman flinched away from him, before looking up at him, seeing it was him. "S... Superman?"
Clack choked on a sob, overcome with emotion. Panic. Pain. Relief. The emotions were so intense they hurt. But most of all, he felt love. He had tried to deny it as long as he could, certain that Bruce would never, never feel that way about him, not wanting to lose their friendship - the most precious thing in the world to him - if he said anything, if Bruce, the detective, realized... So he had hidden it away, through fear.
But he wasn't afraid anymore.
He threw a leg over Batman's body, so he was straddling the other man, then cradled his head with his hands, brought it up to his lips, and kissed him.
Bruce didn't respond at first, but Clark didn't notice, couldn't let himself notice. He just needed this one kiss, to know that he had felt this, done this. He couldn't lie to himself anymore, couldn't let himself be afraid. He couldn't live like that anymore.
He slowly pulled away after a last lick of Bruce's cracked lips, tasting blood. He carefully lowered Batman's body to the ground, then took a deep breath, feeling his eyes filling with tears.
He started to move away, get up, but Bruce levered himself up, onto his elbows, and looked at him for a moment, before reaching up with a hand, twining his gloved fingers in his hair, and kissing him.
Clark could feel him smiling against his lips, and knew he never had to be afraid again.

Clark's desperation and fear melting away into that need to let Bruce know that he loved him...wonderful.
I liked Bruce's flinch and then his relief when he realized that it was Clark.
And of course Bruce returning the kiss was outstanding! :)
Great companion to Rai's art. :)

I know it's odd, but I think that was my favorite part of this story!

Awwww, Star!!! This was very beautiful!! *flails*
Clark's panic and fear of losing Bruce grabbed my heart. And his hidden love not to lose their friendship... it's sooo heartbreaking, and you know, I looove it! XD
And the kiss... desperate and beautiful. *happy sigh* And the ending! EEEEee, Bruce's returning kiss was so sweet and it melted the desperation and heartbreaking feeling away!
(And I think they should hurry back to the manor. X3 )
Thank you very much for this delicious gem, Star! I'm really glad you found this lovely bunny from my pic. *glomps*

Your art was so beautiful and conveyed the emotion so well - Clark's desperation - that it was easy to write this!

I had to have a happy ending! They deserved after everything they had been through. LOL, I think they should get back to the manor quickly too! ;)
Thank you again for sharing the pic with us, Rai! Your art always inspire me. :) *glomps*
