Drabble: Understanding
Title: Understanding
Pairing: Clark/Bruce

He is so insecure sometimes. It's hard to believe it, the most powerful man in the world, maybe the universe, feeling
insecure, unsure of himself.
He never lets the others see it. For if he, Superman, is insecure, how can the rest of them carry on? Continue
fighting the never ending battle?
He never let anyone see it, until one day I stumbled across him despairing, the dam that he built around himself
broke, and his tears and fears fell upon me like rain. He almost seemed surprised at first, when I said I emphasize.
How could I, a mere human with no powers at all possibly understand? ...but then he realised the fear I have.
Everyone around me dies.
While I have dedicated my life to trying to save others from the pain that I have suffered, I send those closest to
me right into the battle, right where I can almost, but never quite save them in time.
He understood, and now whenever he feels the crushing loneliness, or I despair at a new madness that has taken
Gotham, we reach out for each other, and we understand.
No one else can.
And ever will.
