I second Mina's recs of Batman: Ego and Batgirl: Year One. Ego is a really interesting look into Bruce's psyche and Batgirl: Year One is a lot of fun (plus the art is *gorgeous*).
I'm definitely putting those two on my list! :D
I would also recommend The Gauntlet (cool story about Dick's final test before he can become Robin.) and Family (8 part story involving a criminal mastermind named Athena who has a group of her own to challenge the Bat Family. This story also sheds some light on Bruce's mother and his relationship with her, which is nice because most stories tend to focus on his father).
I've never heard of that first one, I don't think! I think I've seen some scans, once, of Family. Is the woman sort of in charge of Wayne Enterprises for a bit? *tries to remember*
