The statue was made of glass. It sparkled in light, either sunlight or moonlight; a far more gentle glow under the light of two moons. But it seemed to have its own radiance, as well, was lit from within by its own fire.

Many stood before it, each day. Staring at it, wondering how it came to be there. Why the eyes looked sad, even though the posture was so grand: a tall man, standing boldly, his cloak rippling about him, a lock of hair falling over his forehead.

He was a hero, a savior, though no one knew his name.

His chest proudly bore a strange symbol, a diamond, or triangle, perhaps, with a letter within, but none that was familiar.

No one knew how long he had been there, or the artist who had created this masterpiece.

In fact, no one knew anything about him at all. Until he came.

He had been clothed all in black, and people had fled before him, fearing him to be a demon. Some tried to stop him when they realized he was approaching the statue - he would break it, or steal it away - but the man had strange powers; fell things shot from his hands, stopping any who tried to halt him.

When he saw the statue, he paused, and some later said that he trembled. But before any could speak, he walked up the crystal man and pressed his lips to his glass ones.

At that touch, the statue... shimmered, and there was a shattering sound, and wails of despair - it was broken, the statue, the perfect crystal man was broken! - and then sudden silence as a man in red and blue stood where the statue had been, gazing at the black clad stranger with wonder on his face.

They both spoke, then, of how the man had been cursed, could only be freed by a kiss from his true love. That the dark clothed man had journeyed far and wide to find him, and release him from the spell.

They told them how they had to leave, and return to their home, find the person who had done this, and bring them to justice.

They had been sad then, that the beautiful and beloved statue would be no more, but they had rejoiced that the spell had been broken, that true love had conquered all.

And, soon after, a new statue was made - not as perfect as the first, nothing could ever match that - but beautiful all the same, of the two men, one in dark glass, the other in crystal, their lips touching in a kiss.
