Update on the wrist saga...

I finally got to see a consultant today. It seems that my Ganglion is worse than everyone previously thought. It's apparently bigger than average, and it's somehow attached itself to one of my wrist bones because it's an alien life form invading my body! it's a evil thing. So, I'm definitely going to have an operation to remove it. It's tentatively been scheduled for the 2nd August. I'm going to have the cyst completely removed, and for that to happen they're going to cut away a sliver of the bone it's attached to. That means I need to be under general anesthetic, rather than local anesthetic as was previously thought. And I'm already very nervous about it, since the last time I was under general anesthetic, and the last time I was operated on, was when I was two. So... I'm going to have a bandage type thing that I need to keep on for 10-12 days, and then have physiotherapy afterwords, so I'm going to be out of action for a little while. It remains to be seen how well I'll be able to type and such with this bandage thing. So... that's what's happening. Expect an incredibly nervous post the day before it all happens.

*hugs*

I'm sure it will all go well. Just don't push yourself to heal too quick.

Ouch! Good luck to you, Star, and I'm sure you'll be fine. Surgery sounds scary but I've had it before, and you really do feel better afterwards in the end. :)

Evil evil cyst, attaching itself to Star! *whacks at it* Okay, yeah, that's not helping ...

I do understand the surgery anxieties. Eek! I've still never had surgery, under local or general anesthetic, and the idea of it terrifies me. Um ... *points at Bradygirl's comment* obviously, though, others' experiences prove that it's relatively routine, and will be fine. ^-^ And at least there's something they can do about the cyst! Just think—once the surgery's over and done with and you heal, your wrist will be completely back to normal! Yay!

In any case, best of luck! My thoughts are with you. *hugs*

I like how you have an appropriate wrist-themed icon to go with this post.

I was really nervous the first time I was put under general anesthesia. I was afraid of never waking up, you know? But all I was having done was having my wisdom teeth removed by a surgeon who had done the procedure hundreds of times. They gave me a sedative before even hooking me up to the IV, so I didn't even care.

It's really not that bad. Almost as soon as you go to sleep, you're being woken up again. It doesn't feel like any time has passed. Of course, you'll probably sleep for the rest of the day.

Just be careful. Right after I came to, the nurses asked me if I wanted to keep the teeth they had taken out. Being somewhat delirious, I said yes! Now I have these huge ugly teeth sitting on my dresser... Be careful you don't end up taking your cyst home with you!

So, good luck! I'm glad you're getting the treatment that will make you feel better. I'll be thinking of you!

Argh, urgh! Damn cyst! *hugs Star* And you won't be able to type to tell us how you're doing! *sniffles* I'm sure everything will go smoothly, but we'll be thinking of you!

Awwww, I will wait for you and your wonderful stories...
I'm always praying for you, Star. *huuuuuuugs*

Aww, that sucks that it has come down to surgery, but at least now they're actually going to do something about the cyst. I have one in my wrist as well and it still flares up from time to time, so I'm glad they're going to take yours out once and for all. No more pain, woot!

As for general anesthesia, I had it when they took out my wisdom teeth and I actually kind of liked it. When I woke up I felt all silly and loopy, it was awesome.

Good luck with everything Star, I'm sure the surgery will go fine :)

*tumbles down* augh! so late! so late! I hope you're not too anxious and I'm sure the operation will go perfectly fine. I hope the rehab is quick and not too painless! *huugs*

Don't fret! And if you need to have a nervous freak out, you know where to find me! Even though I'm awfully silent lately, everything is okay this side of the ocean! *glomps* Everything will be alright, dear, I know it so!
