Oh, Star, this is so beautiful! You and ilovetobefree are such wonderful people. The atmosphere at the beginning is breathtaking--you capture the feel of a bleak but beautiful seascape so perfectly--the gulls and shells and wind. And the image of the mysterious dark rider on a dark horse is really powerful. I love the slow build of their relationship--the conversations, the beachcombing together, the dogs playing--I can see it so clearly, the two of them on the beach.
Oh, and I really love how you have both of them inspire each other--how Bruce is inspired by the tales he hears, but how Clark is in turn convinced to become an active hero by Bruce. You kept it perfectly balanced, and I know that's a challenge!
And this whole paragraph:
A week later, Lord Luthor got the shock of his life when an angel-demon, eyes ablaze with light, flew to his castle and coldly told him that he had been watching him and he didn’t like the way he had been treating his people. And a true demon, all in black, with horns upon its head whispered dire threats in his ear...
Wow, I can see that so clearly, and Bruce would make SUCH a perfect demon in a world that kind of believed in them. How awesome! I really loved this, thank you so much!
