On a more personal note, I'm doing a bit better now, and I hope to start getting back into the swing of things a bit tomorrow. Thank you for all your kind words, they have helped me a great deal. *glomps flist*
It was Ace who found him. Prince Bruce of Gotham had gone on a hunt with his retinue, and had become separated from them, whether through chance or design none could say. By whatever cause, he was alone, with only his horse and faithful dog by his side when the strange white dog appeared from no where, barking and snarling.
Prince Bruce's horse reared, and he was much occupied in calming the black stallion as Ace fought with the white dog. A fight which increasingly became playful, much to Prince Bruce's surprise.
He dismounted from his now calm horse, looking around warily. The white dog came over and sniffed, then licked his hand.
The Prince patted him on the head carefully. "Who is your master, white one?"
Ace woofed, trotting off through the trees, the white dog loping off after him. Prince Bruce gathered his horse's reins and walked after them, occasionally having to draw his sword and cut through the thorny undergrowth.
The thorns increasingly turned to roses; red and blue and gold. The Prince pushed through them, following the two dogs, and his own heart, for it was beating faster now, and he felt more alive than he had ever been before.
Eventually, the roses thinned out, till there was a clearing, and inside was a old cottage. But it was what was before the cottage that took Prince Bruce's breath away.
For, in front of the cottage was a plinth, and upon the plinth was the most beautiful man the Prince had ever seen.
He looked as though he was sleeping, and a soft smile curved his lips, as if he were dreaming of love.
Prince Bruce was enthralled by him, and walked closer, until he was standing by the side of the plinth. And he gazed upon the incredible beauty of the man, clothed in red and blue, and could not resist leaning over and kissing him.
As he did so, the man took a deep breath, as if awakening from long slumber, looked into the Prince's eyes, and smiled.
"You have found me, at last, beloved. I have been dreaming of you for so long..."
"But who are you?" The Prince whispered, lost in the silvery-blue eyes of the man.
"My name is Kal-El, though some called me Clark. I was cursed, long ago, to sleep until all my people had died, or fled far away. Only when my beloved kissed me would I awaken."
Then Prince Bruce took his hand and kissed him again, and they were glad.
*****
The Prince took Kal-El back to his kingdom of Gotham, and soon, Kal-El's kin heard of his awakening, and they came to Gotham, two women with blond hair and a young man who looked much like Kal-El. And they rejoiced at their kinsman's awakening, at the lifting of the curse.
But none were more happy, in those days, than Prince Bruce and Kal-El. For they were truly each other's beloved, and had found the missing the part of their souls in each other.
