4 Pieter/Michael Drabbles:
Title: Sunrise
Rating: PG
Pairing: Pieter/Michael
Word Count: 302
Disclaimer: I own nothing
Author's Note: For my
12_stories table. Prompt: Sunrise.
Michael loved watching the sunrise. He tried to watch it as often as he could, whenever the skies were clear. It was something he used to do with Paula. Had hoped to do with their children. When he and Pieter had become lovers, he had invited him to join him in watching the sun coming up, seeing a new day being born. But Pieter had sighed against him, and told him no. That he couldn't.
At first, he had just thought that Pieter was respecting Paula's memory; trying not to take her place. But then he had realized the truth one early morning, when the JSA were fighting, the battle finally winding down after the long hours of night.
Sunrise was a very difficult time for Pieter.
Michael had seen out the corner of his eye when Pieter had started to stumble in the rubble from a building that had been partly destroyed in the battle. He had rushed over to him, thinking that he had been wounded, and had ignored his injury to treat those who were hurt, who needed his help more than anyone else. But when he had skidded to a stop in front of him, grabbing his arms, looking for wounds that weren't there, but nonetheless Pieter seeming disorientated, the truth had finally hit him.
Pieter could only see in the dark. Not in the light that had been rapidly replacing it. Even with his goggles, he still found it difficult to see in the light.
So now, Michael didn't get up to watch the sunrise, didn't go to the nearest high place he could. Instead, he stayed in bed with his lover, and held him in those difficult moments of sunrise, of light replacing the darkness... and somehow found it more satisfying than he ever had before.
Title: Clouds
Rating: PG
Characters/Pairing: Pieter/Michael, Charlie
Word Count: 318
Disclaimer: I own nothing
Author's Note: For my
12_stories table. Prompt: Clouds.
Pieter stood under a cloudy sky. Charlie was nestled in at his shoulder, under his cape. He had come to pay his respects. And he didn't quite feel that he could so this alone, though it was day, and threatening to rain - not suitable environments for an owl. He shouldn't be here in costume, either. He knew that, but only had the excuse that he had been extraordinarily busy lately, and he couldn't put this off any longer.
The grey sky above him almost completely matched the grey of the stone tombstone before him. Pieter kneeled down very carefully, and as gently as he could, placed the flowers on the grave. He sighed, then removed his mask, but didn't put his glasses on immediately. Perhaps he was being a coward, but he still couldn't quite bring himself to really look at this gravestone, and face the truth... he felt Charlie stir under his cape, and smiled very slightly, knowing that he wasn't alone.
Pieter reached out, and caressed the words on the gravestone, and, as he always did, whispered his apologies. They had ranged in form over the years, but always came back to a simple 'I'm sorry'.
Pieter felt Charlie move again, then felt someone putting glasses on his face. He looked up to see Michael standing before him, framed by the dark clouds. Michael caressed his face gently, and Pieter closed his eyes for a second. He opened them, and looked back at the grave he was kneeling in front of, the final resting place of the woman he had killed, then slowly stood up, standing next to Michael.
He bowed his head. "I'm sorry," he murmured again, though this time for a different reason. But Michael just drew him into a embrace, careful of Charlie, and held him. Pieter blinked through his tears, and held him back.
Together, they could hold each other up.
Title: Wind
Rating: PG
Characters/Pairing: Michael/Pieter, Charlie
Word Count: 117
Disclaimer: I own nothing
Author's Note: For my
12_stories table. Prompt: Wind.
Michael hated it when it was windy. It always made his T-Spheres difficult to control, the gusts blowing them off course.
He glanced over at Pieter, and saw him struggling to keep Charlie wrapped in his cape. Charlie looked... very annoyed. Michael's lips quirked. He wasn't the only one who disliked the wind.
He walked over to them, and helped Pieter arrange his cape, fastening the two crescent moon clasps securely. Pieter smiled in thanks at him, and Michael couldn't resist leaning forward and kissing him.
Pieter was blinking at him in surprise when they broke apart, then smiled again, a deeper curve of his lips.
They stood together, the wind howling about them, and kissed again.
Title: Thunder
Rating: PG
Pairing: Michael/Pieter
Word Count: 193
Disclaimer: I own nothing
Author's Note: For my
12_stories table. Prompt: Thunder.
Thunder boomed around the brownstone of the JSA headquarters. Michael glanced up as the lights flickered for a second, hearing the rain lashing against stone, then looked over at his bed, Pieter still sleeping undisturbed. How the man could sleep through this, yet wake instantly at the much quieter sound of his communicator was a mystery to him.
Michael went back to the computer screen in front of him, one window tracking the progress of the storm raging outside, another full of the unflagged articles the computers were shifting through, yet another open to the Internet. There was another boom of thunder, far louder than the first, and Michael's eyes automatically went skyward, just as a flash of lightning lip up the semi-dark room.
That was finally enough to wake up his lover, it seemed, and Michael turned to look at him again, while Pieter looked around the room sleepily.
"Michael? Come back to bed."
Michael hesitated for a moment, then closed the computer down, and rejoined Pieter in bed. His lover wrapped his arms about him and Michael curled into his warmth. Together, they slept in peace as the thunderstorm moved on.
